Wierd Clicking Noises...
Wierd Clicking Noises...
Hello all,
I've been around a little, but after i recieved my 2006 HB/W MCS I've spent less time on the forums and more time on the road! After 2200 miles, I'm still loving driving it everyday.
So... on to my question. Maybe I'm being a paranoid new car driver, but I've got some wierd clicking noises that are freaking me out. First: The first time I brake on a drive (usually while in R as I pull out of my parking spot) I hear a click or snap noise coming from the passenger rear area of the car. I've emptied the boot and I still hear the noise. There is no loss in braking ability. Any ideas?
Second: After any length of drive, spirited or not, after I park my MINI I can hear a popping coming from the rear of the car. Now usually I wouldn't think anything of it. Cars get hot and expand and then cool off and contract. But it's pretty loud. I can hear it from the other side of our apartment's parking garage as I leave.
Anyways, I'm wondering whether or not I should make a trip to see my SA, but don't want to seem like what I sound like... a paranoid new car driver.
Thanks for any advice/experience.

The brake noise could be just from rust buildup on the rotor, is your car parked outside? maybe in reach of a lawn sprinkler which causes the surface rust on the brakes? Any car will make that noise with buildup on the rotors but yours sounds like a more common occurance...
The other noise is another one I would call normal, is it coming from the exhaust? Most cars have that clicking/popping noise from a hot exhaust.
Either way, if it is not affecting the drivablity, the dealer isn't going to do anything about it, they will just claim that they cannot duplicate the problem.
