The Legend is coming to town (Randy Webb)

Thats right folks. I know alot of you were waiting for his next visit, well he will be in Los Angeles for a Pulley Party weekend on August 27th and 28th at the Bimmers Clinic.

Go to www.webbmotorsports.com Pulley forums to sign up.

If you dont have a reduction pulley in your car, this is the man for the job. $400 for parts and labour, best hp for the money you can get.

Sign up early, because it will fill up fast.

SWEET! I hope my bank account recovers by then, I just purchased some BBS RG-R's, and I think they would enjoy a reduction pulley .

$400 ?? Sure seems high to me for a party price ! I have never understood how anyone could pay $300 for an hour of labor.

The pulley cost around $100 or less for a vendor and the rest is labor. $275 sound much more fair than $400

$125 for the pulley ( retail price ) and 150 for the labor and wisdome allowing it to be done so fast. $150 labor for less than an hour is more than fair dont you think?? Believe me its not rocket science I did my own, and including the tools it was less than $275.

Sorry, I just hate to see people pay too much for something.

Flame on I guess....

Nah, no need to flame you. This argument has been around for ages, and I see where you're coming from. I definitely would not pay someone to do something if I know that I can do it better or cheaper.

But, and I'm sure I speak for alot of people, if the average person were to try and install a pulley it would take them about 6-8 hours, of sweat and labour, and even then, it would be the worksmanship of a first time install. Another option is to get a dealer to do it...but asking someone who cant change oil to do your pulley, then you're asking for trouble. Bottom line - 400 bucks is cheap for this stuff. (Unless of course you're a starving student)

It definitely isnt rocket science, but it isnt a walk in the park either.

Plus, and a big plus, is you get the man himself doing the install. I hate to sound like a fanboy, but Randy is definitley a legend of our time.

I do see your point. But my point was more that there is no reason to overcharge for labor just because they can get away with it. Even dealers dont gouge on labor that hard.

Another point is that in any normal situation when you get a group together to buy a bunch of a product or service that product or service is given at a discount. $400 is the high side going rate? See my point. I know Randy has his following and that is great but still no reason to charge that much just because you can.

Just for the record I am not aiming this at randy specifically but at anyone who is charging that much for a pulley install, especially at a pully party !!

For me, I quoted an independent BMW performance shop in my area who has done a number of pullies and he quoted me over $500, and I would have to leave the car at his shop all day. For $400, the party with Randy and all the MINI nuts was all very worthwhile.

detlman, thats the power of economics. Supply and Demand. (If anything, it's the fault of the buyers, not the sellers.)

Besides, there is a difference to charging 275-500 bucks and doing a crap job, or charging 400 bucks and doing the best job in the world.

Also, you're not just buying the 45mins of Randy's time that it took to do the install, you're buying his x years of expertise (over 600 installs) and exceptional attitude and workmanship. 400 bucks for a Webb pulley install (which INCLUDES the pulley!!) is a no brainer. Come on man, you know I'm right.

I can agree with that and I guess that is a point I was trying to make.

You can sell the $400 install price as fair if you like but do the math and check your shorts. Its funny how many who have paid too much will try to justify the price.

No biggie but the extra people are paying for install overpricing could have been another mod or a few tanks ao fuel for some motoring, maybe a track day ??? Hmmm I cant wait for th enext track day.

Camel, are you doing the track day in august with SCMM ?

Well I'm definitely not trying to justify having paid too much, because I still don't think 400 is overpriced. I'm sure we can play tag all day, but you wont convince me, nor will I convince you - but that is just how it goes.

And YEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , Camel (and me) will be there at Streets. I'm trying to get some new boots for the track. Sucks that the pulley party is after the track day, because I would have had some more goodies to smoke cars with. I guess I will be seeing you there?

It's on!! I'm down with that. I don't need to go to Steves for Prep, I'll race with what I got. Nothing wrong with stock.

Absolutly nothing at all! We have an all stock cooper with cvt and I love to drive that almost as much as I like to drive my S.

What run group are you registering for ?

advanced
intermediate
beginer?

Streets is a fun track, I have only been there once and it was in the rain! I have been to big willow 3 times, really like that one and button willow once, really liked that one as well!

here is what i read

Webb Motorsports (pulley party) express your interest here for a pulley or other mod and Randy will make a schedule. Pulley Party would be Saturday August 27 at the Best Western Humboldt Bay, Eureka CA. This is your best opportunity if you can't make MiniMeetWest.

humbolt is a long way fron socal

Here's one good reason to pay 'extra' for Randy to do the install - his company warranties the part (and if I read it right, any affected OEM parts that might be damaged as a consequence) for the lifetime of the original warranty or 2 years/24,000 miles if expired.

Now thats worth an extra $100 to me.

Damn...$400 for a pulley, or $395 for track day @ Cal Speedway on my Buell. Choices, choices...since it's an early b-day present, think I'm going riding! BB will have to stay stock a little longer

Bro thats your first mistake. For every day your car has no reduction pulley, thats every good day wasted. Trust me.
