Hello & ?'s (newbie)

hi Im new here I just purchased a used 2002 Mini Cooper S.
it had a air bag light staying on and I have it at the dealer in Atlanta.
Its a bit of a trip to Atlanta where Im at so I want to get as many things fixed checked out as possible.
Im going to have them do an oil change and check it out.
Ive heard about the tranny retainer clip Im not having any probs at this time, should get them to put it on anyway?

any suggestions?

thanks db

I haven't owned an '02, but I remember there were some early issues with coolant bottles cracking, and coolant changing color. By now those issues have probably been resolved on your car, or were never issues in the first place.

There are a lot of folks here who have early model MCS's. They can probably give you better feedback. It might also be a good idea to post the current milage on the car, and the month of manufacture. (Look on the inside of the door post on the driver's side.)

Congratulations and welcome!

Mine's an 03 (November 02 build).

I think only the standard coopers had the retainer clip problem (speak up if I'm wrong?
Coolant bottles were a problem. If you have one thats an ugly shade of yellow, then you have a new one.
Was a recall on a rear suspension bolt (on early 03's not sure about 02's)

And make sure the back latch is working properly. ie no weird noises, etc.

Good luck, Congrats & Welcome to MAN

Air Bag Light

IS due to a bad connection under the front seats from moving back and forth. Ours went in for service in regards to the light and has not come on since then. I am not sure if they change, the harness, plug or simply reset the light.
