As I understand it is a programmable option. In my 05 I asked for this to be enabled. I am just a bit before it should chime so I await it. Still on the first tank and only 170miles (1 week and 1 day of ownership)

I once, years ( decades ) ago, ran out of gas at the top of a long hill....coasted down with no power 3/4 mile right up to a pump at a gas station...pretty convenient!

An audible when low fuel would be nice

I just had it turned on a few weeks ago with the auto unlock. The chime for low fuel isn't very loud(sounds like the chime warning you of freezing outside temps)if you have the H/K crankin' you'll never hear it.Good thing there is a light too.

I had no idea this was a programmable option! I'm definitely going to have it done. I've never actually run out of gas, but I've come perilously close a couple of times.

Umberto,mine is a 2003
I originally wanted Tony(how cool is it to be on a first name basis with the guy who works on your MINI?)to turn on the auto unlock, when he got in the car I asked him about the low fuel chime and this is exactly what he said "I'll see if it's in there" meaning the list after he hooks up the scan tool.Don't know if that will help you.

I had mine programmed in to my '05
for some reason I was expecting it to some thing like the seatbelt alarm.
But it only chimes once when the light comes up..
pretty much pointless imo.

I believe my July '03 build chimes when the low fuel light comes on.

I have watched the tech. at my dealer hook up my 03 to the computer, and the low fuel chime is in there, but I'm not a bells and whistles kind of guy,and did not get it turned on.The light is good enough, plus I tend to fill up between 1/2-1/4 tank

Oh, I am going to have to look into this. On my 05, if there's a chime I need it.

I have the Nav... and you know what that means... those damn lights! I thought there would be something (like on past BMW's I owned). Those without the Nav... lucky you... an analog gas gas! The LED gas gauge I have is so "not Mini".

I've been danagerously low several times... just looked down and saw I was on the last light, and it turns "red" when your on reserve.

Next time in for service, I will have make sure it's programmed. Why wouldn't it just be a standard feature?
