Clock Suggestions

In my Cabrio S the clock is a small digital reading on the speedometer. You can hardly read it when the top is down and the sun is shinning. Anybody know where I can get a good looking clock to put it where it belongs, just like the 02's- above the windshield.

Anybody done anything unusual by putting in a different clock?

I got a digital watch that clips on like a carabiner and hung it from the cup holder. Press a button and it lights up for night use. 6 bux at XYZMart.

If it comes with Bridgette Nielson, I don't want it.

I don't know if they still sell them, but Radio Shack used to carry some very nice digital car clocks that wired right into your 12 volt system, and the display came on and off with your ignition. They did require some dash cutting though for mounting in-dash. I recall they had either a green or red LED/LCD display, and had varying brightness.

Whoever

was responsible of the clock design/implementation of the 2005 Mini's should be fired. Not sure what they were thinking or smoking.

Yeah, dumb.

I agree, removing the clock from the original position up by the windsheild just to put map lights there was DUMB! I realize MINI had to due what the could with the cabrio, but they could have left the hard top alone. It was just one more cool thing the makes MINI unique.

I'm glad I have an '04. I'm beginning to really appreciate the fact I own an "original" new MINI as I don't care for the '05 "upgrades" save for the Getrag 5-speed on Coopers. Just my thoughts, thanks for reading.

spurvis,

You don't like the limited slip differential and revised gearing ratios? Have you driven an LSD-equipped '05 yet? Coming hard out of corners is a world of difference.

Multi-function clocks

Wedge: I don't know what you are looking to spend or how strongly you feel about aesthetics versus functionality, but here are two options for a 12 volt:

Personally, I have been looking at Radio Shack, Car Toys, etc, to find a small digital clock, but there are multi-functional toys available. I have been looking for one that attaches to the rear view mirror, so will continue checking this thread. Great question...

Car Toys carries RAZO, which has some real sporty looking clocks.

I've just been dropping my mobile phone into the highly-functional-but-controversial cupholder on the downtube. That allows me to see the clock at a glance. But I don't know if that would work well in a Cabrio. If not, you may want to just wear a watch.

Hey Edge, sure I like the LSD, but I own a Cooper and haven't had the opportunity to really get to know a Cooper S for any extended amount of time, but I wouldn't trade my Cooper for anything. Regards.
