newman ph2 camshaft issue?

I just received a new Newman PH2 Cam for my R53. On inspection it looks like it has a few imperfections. Should I be concerend or are these normal since it's a modified cam?

Looks like poor quality control. I would be more concerned with the scratches on the lobe in your third attached photo. Send it back.

Thank you for the info. The I cleaned the lobes and they look pristine. The vendor said that that the imperfections are from the cam casting process and won't interfere with anything. Should I just sand off those imperfections carefully or leave them?

Shouldn't matter one way or the other as long as you're careful and don't remove additional lobe material to negatively affect balance.

Hi All, I just finished the cam install and had a question before I start the engine. I noticed when I installed the intake lifters it would not sit flush because one of the lifters for cylinder 3 was pressing up against one of the cam lobes on the Newman PH2 cam I installed. I slowly tighthen the 5 bolts gardually from inside to out and was able to make it sit flush. Same thing happened with the exhaust lifters, this time for both lifters on cylinder 4. I believe this is normal due to the Newman PH2 cam profile. Is my thinking correct? If not what do you think is causing an issue? I've attached a video of the intake side lifter assembly. Thank you

I was able to turn the egine over 3 times via the crank pulley. My plan is to pull the fuel pump fuse and then crank the engine over 3 times to build oil pressure and then cycle the inginiton to the number two position to prime the fuel pump (I also replace the fuel injector o-rings), put a jumper on the battery and try to start the car. Any concerns? Thanks!

Curious. Did you install new rockers with the new camshaft?

Asking because I have WMW camshaft to install and I am inclined to replace all the rockers with it so they wear together.

No I re-used mine. How do you like your Milltek header? I just installed mine, but haven't really driven the car much.

It has been a little more than 1000 miles and 2 months and I am happy with it. Still no Check Engine light from the high flow cat and I think the somewhat increased exhaust volume has a really good tone. My wife, who doesn't drive the car much, drove it the other day and commented that she really likes how it sounds, so I call that a win! We are in our early 50's so that comment from a woman of that age put a smile on my face! I take that as a green light to put a cat back exhaust on her daily driver.
