While looking in my engine bay yesterday I noticed I could not see the Powerflex inserts that I had installed. After looking around some more, I found pieces of them down below the motor mount. When I extracted them from the crevices, they had fallen into, they were very soft and stretchy, almost like the rubber from a rubber band. Now granted I had just finished driving, so the engine bay was hot, but they should be designed to handle that heat, right?
They have been installed for about 25k miles, and I admit it has probably been 15k miles since I looked at them. I have taken the car to one track day and one trip to Minis on the Dragon, but other than that it is just my daily driver. And, although I do drive..."spirited", it is still street driving, not track driving. I would have thought the inserts would have held up to that.
Yep, never seen that. Maybe the stock mount was soo worn it was bouncing around. I have seen the mounts get torn and that might have been the case before the little dog bones installed.
Failed mount
New mount with powerflex.
My guess is the mount was torn before (maybe) on the back side where you could not see it and powerflex units were bouncing around popped out
