Barn doors will not open

I have a 2016 Clubman and the barn doors will not open. When I depress the button on right door I can hear it trying to operate the opening mechanism but door will not pop open.
I have read that the 2016 model does not have a manual release for the barn doors. I did see a video and a photo of releasing the lock by inserting a hooked instrument in hidden area in the hinge pictured below.
I have tried to replicate what the guy did in the video but it isn't working.

Can anyone offer some help?

Lower lock is this one on the left. And so is the lock on the other door right hand side.

If you can get in there to push the lock tab back in the mechanism thats your best best.

THE DOORS ARE OPEN!!!!! There isn't much online about how to open a stuck/broken latch on a 2016 Mini Cooper Clubman. The posts I read where not very detailed. "Take a pick and scratch the right side till it opens", "Take the pick and push in just under the latch hood.". None of these worked. I got the replacement part to see where the heck the release mechanism was. So first off you will need this tool, or something similar:

Below is the release point top red circle. I laid the tool along side the new part to measure and tape the distance I needed to insert the tool to reach that small circular release point. Once I inserted the tool , with the point of the toll up, I rotated it clockwise to insert the tip into the hole. Then just a slight push upwards and the door will pop open.

NOW this is what I found on my 2016 Clubman F54, other years and models will be different. Hope this helps.

Thank you for this! I've been having this same issue (that a lot of people seem to be having nowadays) on my '17. I was able to open my rear doors per your instructions after much fiddling and use of a headlamp. I hoped that it would fix the root problem and the doors would start working again, but as soon as I closed them and tried to open them again I was greeted with that familiar "click" and no open door. Have you been able to fix the (presumably) electrical issue? Do you have any recommendations for what I should do?

thanks for sharing those detailed pics and instructions! that's gonna be super helpful for others dealing with this annoying problem. have you tried checking the fuses? might be worth a look if the electrical side's still acting up.
