Recently our rear barn doors stopped operating and were stuck closed. We could not find a manual release for the doors, but were eventually able to figure out how to open them. Passing this along if someone else has a problem.
From inside the car, pull back the rubber boot over the lock mechanism. Using a 90 degree bent pick tool, insert the pick under the top cover of the latch mechanism and simply push the pick toward the rear of the car. This triggers something inside the mechanism to release the latch.
