P/N: 11537629401 Coolant line

Gents, what is the purpose of this coolant line (item 1 in the diagram attached)

I'm doing a coolant system refresh on a 2006 R50. Should i include this line? Its over $250...

Given its location, I would assume it’s the bypass.

Hmm. Took a look at realoem. Looks like it connects to the heater hoses maybe?

That looks to be a metal line. No need to replace it unless it's rusted out and leaking, especially for that money. Just flush it out good, clean it up and paint it if you're **** (I would be).

Their is an aftermarket now. Mine was really rusty and it broke on the end when i was doing front end work on my car replacing that short rubber hose that leaked near the water pump.

I think it may be a bypass because I saw it listed that way on a retail site.

What is a bypass in this context?

Much better price!

Planning on replacing the short hose to the water pump. Does it terminate at the engine block on the other end with oring?

Heater hose to water pump connection. Hose to hose and yes mine was super rusty. Down near the waterpump is were they rust, water and gunk comes through the radiator/ up from the road and hits down near the front of the block/near that water pump. Those short hoses off the water pump crack link crazy.

Glad to help.

You can see that hose / pipe on the front of this engine. I did mine with the radiator and front end off. but i bet you can do it from the bottom up and snaking it around.

All done.

i had to take the bolts out of the intake manifold and the thermostat housing. Then I was able to work the metal line out towards the drivers side. Reverse to get the new one in.
