All, I just purchased a 07 Convertible Mini and the clutch pedal is all the way to the floor. The previous owner says it's a clutch slave cylinder replacement. That seems to make sense... it looks like an easy repair... a couple of questions... (1) where can i get a clutch slave cylinder at a reasonable price? (2) looks like you can get access underneath fairly easily, will oil come out when i pull it? (3) I know I'll need to bleed brake fluid(?) after I install (4) that should bring the clutch pedal back to normal again... right? Engine runs great, just no engagement of clutch... for the most part this looks like an easy job. Am I missing something here? Thanks in advance for all of your comments!
its easy to remove from under the car,2 bolts and the metal pipe. which just pulls out after you remove the clip, then you can just pull the cyl out, there is a small rubber seal on the end of the pipe [which you can buy without the pipe] that sometimes stays in the cylinder, make sure you get that out and refit it on the pipe, when you fit the new cyl you will have to bleed the air out of the system, I suggest you get a power bleeder to do that cause it can be a pain in the butt to bleed without one, don't let the master cyl reservoir get low or you will be bleeding the brake system as well because clutch & brake use the same reservoir, no oil will come out only a bit of brake fluid, cant help with buying one, here in Australia I think I paid about $70 au

It is possible to be just a slave cylinder, but it also possible a full clutch job could be in order. It’s not unheard of that the release lever is bent or broken…
Do some searching for clutch bleed procedures. There are some trick you’ll need to follow. And don’t be surprised if it takes a few try’s to get it right.
+1 on the Bleeding process is a bit finicky, also don't waste time looking for the Clutch Master Cylinder Reservoir, the Brake and the Clutch share the same Reservoir.
All, thanks again for your feedback. I was able to pull the battery housing and I found a leaky line! I have ordered and look forward to hopefully getting back pressure on my clutch! the connector #11 below was the problem... I am nervous following connector to behind the dash firewall... any thoughts there? I do have a Motive Product Power Bleeder to help once all is connected. So... should I replace the clutch slave cylinder? it doesn't leak and wasn't sure if I needed to replace it then... I know the bleeding process can be tricky with compressed sponge before bleeding, but if i have a power bleeder do i need to do that?

where on line 11 was it leaking? my R52 is the JCW S supercharger model and to replace that line would be a major job, have you tried to tighten the connections or is the rubber line split
I've never had to do it on mine but the main problem I see is getting a spanner/wrench onto the fitting on pipe 10 to stop it from turning or you may find that you might be able to pull the line through the firewall enough to get a spanner on it from the engine bay side once you get the rubber grommet out of the way
zabond, you mention a "spanner/wrench" I can't seem to get behing the firewall and disconnect the line clip... are there special tools to do that? a long small flat head screwdriver can't reach the connection...
sry I don't know, I will look in my manual when I get a chance, maybe it might mention it , if I get a chance over the weekend I will get my R52 down from the hoist and look at the situation
