R55 schematics
schematics
Hello all...
I am in search of the schematics for my 2012 Clubman S.
We replaced the multifunction switch and took it to the BMW/Mini specialist to have it encoded (I only have a limited scanner and can calibrate but not code) The technician told me he cannot see the SZL module so he cannot encode it to my VIN. It was my understanding that the SZL will not communicate with anything in the control system without the coding. Since he can't see it, he can't code it. Short history: clutch replaced, steering wheel not locked and clock spring got stretched (not snapped) Tried repeatedly to calibrate, but off by .3% so it would not clear any faults. Had the classic problems: wipers with a mind of their own, turn signals not cancelling, no cruise, dash lit up like a christmas tree, etc. Finally gave in and paid the 650+ for a new clock spring/multifunction switch and installed according to ProDemand to the tee (thanks to Mark Kovalcik for the printouts) Now it won't show up in the professional BMW software. My limited scanner says communication is established in the calibration function but that is as far as it will go since I do not have the coding capability.
Does anyone have any idea why suddenly it cannot talk to the software? The technician wants to charge minimum 2 hours' labor to chase wires for corrosion. Everything was communicating just fine with the old unit, which makes me *think* the com bus is not the problem. I don't know where to start since I have no schematics of the control system / com bus. Any similar experiences out there? Can anyone help me out with the schematics?
