Assistance to programme a new SZL

Someone move this to the Gen 2 please. My bad.

I have spent days searching everywhere including BMW coding forums, Youtube, etc for information to no avail.
I have retrofitted MFSW steering wheel controls and this had to include a new steering column switch unit.
MFSW and cruise all work BUT the DSC and orange brake warning is on. There is no hill start assist and obviously because the steering angle is not set the indicators do not reset. This is no big deal for a short time as I am old enough to know how to drive cars that preceeded these gismos.
So, in my search I have seen that it is possible to programme the VIN and code the unit. the problem is there is no definitive guide. The threads all seem to say programme SZL with either ISTA -p or WinFKP then give no details how to do it!!! It is like some big secret society.
INPA, ISTA -p and Winfkp are not even working for me as every daten file I can find has no 'data' file in it so I cannot import the assembly line.
If someone has a detailed process I would love to hear from you to end this misery. I am booked into a BMW stealership in Malaga on 23rd October but would prefer not to be reamed and have to hand over my wallet. They cannot tell me how long they would take to do it... which is an open ended invoice in my opinion.
So, to recap, I have the files, I have a battery charger, 40amp and am ready for knowledge :-)

Update - I was successful programming the VIN into the column switch with Tool32. Then took it to BMW to have the DSC coded and faults cleared. 30 minute tech charge. All good :-)
