2009 Barn Door Issue…

The right door opens properly with and without the fob. However, when opened with the fob, the left door also opens. Is that anything else other than a bad left door switch?

WOW, how did your car manage that magic?
Hmmm, so if you have both doors opened, and you shut the left barn door first, does it fully latch/stay closed? Has this just started happenning?
I'm wondering HOW that latch mechanism is getting a signal to allow the electric opener actuate... I mean, is this really a bad thing tho? Just curious.

I have a 2009 and when ever I open the door manually OR with key fob button press, the right barn door only opens about 4-6" and meets resistance. Its like the gas strut has an internal 2 step opening procedure, and I have to open (not forcefully, I just nudge it and then the door opens fully because of gas strut). Its nifty, but I was also told this is NOT how most other clubbies. It IS convenient for windy days so the door doesnt fully open QUICKLY and cause damage to hinges/body. Thats all I can think of
Anyhow, I often wonderd if I'd prefer to have gas struts that opened the right barn door fully upon button press OR even BOTH doors... and magically yours DOES that second thought I had.

Yes, left door fully closed and right door fully closed. This has been happening for several months. The release of the left door is almost simultaneous with the right.

Yes, it is a bad thing because the seals on the left door rub against the seals on the right door. Eventually it is likely to damage one or both.

Yes, upon release the right door will open partially as you said, but it is a function of ambient temperature. In some circumstances the right door will slowly open fully if not touched.

If forced open too heavily, the mount at the end of the gas strut will break. Had this happen several years ago when trying to put something in the car that barely fit. Simple fix with a new strut.

ok, that IS very interesting that the left barn door opens with right barn door, but only when using key fob.
I'm wondering, but have never seen it iin the coding (NCS Expert) that BOTH doors could be electronically opened the same time from key fob.I'm assuming you didnt't make any coding changes (if that is even possible for this), so I'm wondering IF perhaps your module wich controls the door opening, is going bad. Do you have anything else interesting happenning? window opening/closing issues?

I’ve owned the car from new. To my knowledge there has been no reprogramming other than before I brought it home at the end of August 2009. There is an issue with the driver’s window that originally appeared alongside this thread. But, the window functions OK. As it nears the end of its up travel there is a noise. However, the operation is smooth and the window closes properly, Anyway, I don’t think the two issues are related.

I also discovered an additional problem when both doors open. The right door wants to pull the rubber latch cover off o the let door. Very not good!

Anyway, the shop where I go determined that the left switch was faulty. I’m going to order some new internals for it.

Check both latches, they can stick on on side.
