A few trim questions regarding leaks in boot and headliner
Hi all,
I’m trying to understand where some leaks might be coming from. I found a leak in the headliner in the rear right seat area. Could this be from the top line or from the sunroof seal? What does your sunroof seal look like? Mine looks collapsed in some spots like it’s not holding on properly to the body anymore. I’m guessing this is due to brittleness and the expansion? The seal is not as collapsed where the leak is at it is in the front area. The photo is of the front area.
In the boot the floor of the boot area on the left is a little damp. I’m attaching photos of stuff for reference. I forgot to take a photo of the boot area when it was raining but I don’t remember there being anything apparent.
One of the photos is what I’m referring to as the topline trim. The part that surrounds the roof and not necesssrily the hatch part in the photo, but I’m just using it for reference to the type of trim. I’m also a little confused about the few gasket options available for the sunroof.
Check realoem.com for a detailed parts list. This will help you figure out which gasket(s) you need.
Also, when you get internal leaks like yours, it's often a sign of a clogged drain. There a gutter system between the roof and headliner that's supposed to catch all the water and send it through one of the four drains to the outside of the car. The right rear drain is probably clogged. Youtube videos will show you how to unclog it.
