non-Mini activities for the wife during the Dragon run?
non-Mini activities for the wife during the Dragon run?
Hi,
I'd really like to go to the Dragon this year with my soon to be delivered MCS. My wife will be 8 mos. pregnant by then and I'd like her to come with. She would want me to go with or without her, but it would great if we were both being entertained
1. I'm trying to see if there is anything for my wife to do while we're up there that does not involve corner carving. Any ideas?
2. How long do the organized drives through the Dragon last? Or are they every man for himself?
3. Is it worth just doing a day trip up there (I am in Atlanta) ?
Thanks.

2. Last year the drives ranged from 2 to 4+ hours. I think the most people thought the long one was a little long. I'd plan on 2 hours minimum -- but keep in mind; you can pull off a drive early if you need to.
3. Oh, its worth it.
4. The question you didn't ask --
I was 5 months pregnant the first year of the Dragon. We decided that I was miserable enough and didn't need to share my misery with the whole of the MINI community. In truth, I wasn't comfortable even at the point. While I know your wife would love to visit the Dragon, and I'm not one to say don't come, you might want to see how she's feeling closer to the event. Eight months is ALOT of bathroom breaks and there's issues with sitting and standing too long. I'll leave it at this. She's a bigger man than I, if she comes.
Hugs,
PB
Ditto on what Babswife said. You're gonna carve some major twisties just getting there. By 8 months she may just want to relax by the pool at the motel and let you ring it out on the "Tail".
Congrats on having one in the oven and have a blast!!!

If wifey is willing to come, and she will be needing lots of bathroom breaks, she may just enjoy physically being at Fontana Village. It's a lovely area of forests and rivers...very beautiful. It can be a retreat when one is not out Dragon-slaying.

My wife hated the MINI during pregnancy, the run flat tires made the ride WAY to bumping for her comfort. Also, there is no 'straight' road to get to Fontana Village, it's all curves. Something to think about.

Thanks for all the replies. We talked it over some and went ahead with reserving a cabin in Fontana Village. She got excited by the idea of vegging out in a nice setting.
She is a tough cookie, but if she decides not to go I will most likely still come up.
BTW, we found out today it's going to be a boy and all is fine

I hope that you have already gotten your son a plush MINI toy. Or atleast pick one up before the big day and give it to him as a Birthday present! He might not do much with it for the first 3-4 months though!
