2005 Dragon Farewell Dinner, Saturday May 7

Hi! from the AtlantaMINIS, We just wanted to give everyone an update on the planning for the 2005 Farewell Dinner. We have really enjoyed hosting the Welcome Dinner the past two years, and we are happy to help start a new tradition. We have reserved the same beautiful outdoor location at Tapoco, and are currently putting the finishing touches on the last details. I will be posting all the juicy details soon. At the moment, plans are to do everything in the same manner that we did last year, with the price of the dinner including only what Tapoco charges us plus Paypal's small fee. Anyone that wishes to avoid the PayPal fee is free to mail us a check, but we'll post all of that information at the same time. Absolutely everyone is welcome to swing by even if you can't have dinner with us, we will be having slot car races, lots of door prizes, and Phil Wicks, the stunt driver of the original Italian Job, has requested time to give a presentation on his Driving Academy, plus he will be giving away a gift certificate good for one of his courses anywhere in the country. Last year we gave away over $700 in door prizes, and we are hard at work securing even more this year! We are hoping to once again have a band and therefore a speaker system for anyone that wishes to hand out prizes from previous activities. If you have an idea or something you would like to see at the dinner, please email me at cometgirl63 at gmail.com

We just wanted to let ya'll in on our planning, so you can make plans to attend! More details to follow soon!!

um, Tapoco kinda dropped the ball last time on food quality - hence our efforts to keep everything at Fontana. Plus parking is tough at Tapoco for a big turnout. Any solutions for these issues?

What Fun!!

I'm really excited about the whole MOTD event, and am especially thrilled to think that I'll finally get to meet all these AtlantaMINIs in person. Ever since I saw their pics of the fabulous Atlanta XMAS parade, I knew for sure that these folks would be something extra special!!

Many thanks for putting this great dinner event together! - -

in my opinion, food in the area is iffy most of the time anyway, but I thought that the catfish at last year's welcome dinner was pretty good. I didn't have the bbq that night as I am extremely picky about what I consider to be good bbq. However, I did eat at Fontana several times the first year of the Dragon and really just didn't enjoy it, and most of the AtlantaMINIS team had the same experience. But at the time, I wasnt aware of anyother choice on the area. We think it will also be more fun to have the dinner somewhere else instead of the same location 3 straight nights.

We have several ideas related to parking, and believe we have it under control. Last year, we didn't use any of the parking up by the cabins, and there is some additional parking along the back of the property that we intend to look into when we go up there noext month to finalize the details in person.

They will be forever known by their world famous reindeer MINIs.
I too look forward to whatever they have planned.

Amanda: - agreed, food at Fontana and Tapoco both suck. I also had the catfish at last years ATL dinner, and I was less than amused. There are actually a handfull of really great restaurants/kitchens in the nearby area, just definitely not at Fontana or Tapoco, lol. I agree, not having dinner in the same location for three nights is good for variety.

I thought the food was fine. The best part of events like this, though, is not the food but the fun and the companionship.

Don't expect filet mignon but everyone that comes is guaranteed a nice meal and a good time.
