Shopping for new wheels

I've narrowed down to few selection but I think I'll pull the trigger on 17" OZ HYPER GT HLT. My dilemma is the offset. 50 would be close to stock specs but would 35 offset work on clubman? Anyone has 35mm offset wheels fitted?

How does the width compare to stock? 15mm difference in offset isn’t a lot these days

Width is actually .5 smaller, stock is MINI Styling Multiray Spoke 591 wheel 18 x 8. The HYPER GT HLT is 17 x 7.5. I'm aiming for a meatier tire profile and a bit more cushiony ride.

You should be good with that offset

Tire Rack no longer have the 35mm offset so I guess 50mm is what is meant to be.

@CoralRedF54 Have you already bought the wheels and tires? Would appreciate seeing the end result. In your discussion, I don't see what width of tire you are planning to use. Lots of factors playing a role here: tire section width, actual tread width, wheel width, camber (tip o' the hat to @THE ITCH ), offset... Actually, I would say that the wheel width plays less of a role than the others. 15mm may have more impact than what suits your taste.

[To aid future searches and discussions...]

I find this wheel-size.com site very helpful for comparing wheel sizes... I'm sure I found it through someone else linking it somewhere on another NAM thread. I like having some numbers to at least use as a starting point for comparison, even though there's always a little variability.

@tom992 's pictures and wheel info in this thread are helpful to me. ( I'm considering wheel upgrades in the same ballpark of offset and tire width. )

For reference and maybe some help to others, here are some pics I took of my current setup. I wanted to see what kind of clearance I have and what I would be comfortable fitting. Like... would a certain set of GP3 wheels listed in the marketplace be something that I could use...

OEM Grip Spoke wheels, 18x8 ET54 (per wheel markings) with 11mm spacer... effectively ET43.
Tires are OEM Pirelli all-seasons. Tire Rack notes these have a 7.3" tread width for the 225/40s. Compare that to something like a BFG Comp-2 A/S that Tirerack lists as an 8.1" tread width for the same 225 section width.
Lowered on H&R sport springs.
Wish I had thought to put a ruler in the pic when I took these!

Hope this helps anyone else thinking about wheels. Likewise, I appreciate any pics and specs others post to this thread. Not trying to hijack your thread CoralRed, but I think you've started a good conversation. From what I've found, tire and wheel fitment pictures / discussions have been a bit scattered around the F54 section.

@BendersMINI thank you for that detailed explanation. I'm going to postpone the wheel upgrade for now. After all said and done it's about a 3k update. I initially wanted to downsize the wheels for a better ride / pothole protection but in the mean time changing the wheels I realized I'm also changing the uniqueness of my f54. There are not many coral reds with mini 591 wheels out there. I'm leaning towards just to change the tires to crossclimate 2 same size as stock 225/40/18 for versatility and better ride than my bridgestone run flats.

@ECS Tuning Thank you so much. I'm on your website and I can't figure it out. Which exhaust tip would fit on top of these? Would these https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...358ecs03a01kt/ on top of the excising tip or would I need to remove/cut the ones I already have?

I installed these, they fit perfectly on top of the the oem tips. https://killallchrome.com/product/jc...55-f56-f60-f57 but not holding out well.

Welcome,.

We don't sell the knock off JCW stuff (illegal for us as we work with MINI direct). So i don't know what the sizes are with that.

2.5" is the inlet on the aftermarket tips. Easy way is to take your factory tip off and measure the pipe without the tip. Those tips will clamp in a bit but not a inch or so. Or try to get a caliper and measure right behind the tip before the curve,

The factory JCW tips for the JCW tuning kit are " ~68mm inside dimensions measurement if fitting to an aftermarket or custom exhaust. "

This is the stock exhaust tip for your MINI, i dont have one of hand to measure otherwise I could figure it out in 5 mins. This slide off with a little set screw

@ECS Tuning Truly appreciate it for looking it up. I'll measure it once I remove it.

Just my one-person's perspective on the wheel debate. Glad you found it useful.

That is a stunning color, and those are gorgeous wheels!! Hope we see more pics of your MINI in the forum as time goes on!

Are those tail lights from the black line collection? Only thing I have left chrome is the tails.
