Harman/Kardon Availability

The online build tool still shows limited availability for the H/K sound system. I’ve seen some people have their car arrive without the H/K and get a credit for it being missing. Has anyone had any luck ordering a 2022 with a H/K system? I’m looking at ordering a 2022 JCW Clubman probably next month, but no H/K is a dealbreaker for me.

Supposedly they're prioritizing JCWs and Iconic trim levels for what H/K systems they have. When I ordered my Electric Collection SE, I was supposed to get a credit, but now it looks like it's going to be included after all. I'll hopefully find out for sure this weekend.

Yesterday the dealer told me if it was not included you would receive a $500 credit

Man, that would be a total deal breaker for me. H/K is essential to me.

My 2002 JCW Clubman with Iconic trim was delivered in August. The H/K system didn't come with it, and I received $500 credit. Personally, I couldn't care less. The standard audio system is fine, especially given how loud the exhaust is in Sport mode (which I use 95% of the time.) This is not a quiet, luxury cruiser. It's a sports car. The engine sound is much more important than the stereo.

Did you turn off the fake engine noise? I liked it when we first got the car, but it started wearing on me after awhile. I think it sounds much better with ASD turned off.

Interesting. I kind of like the stock engine sounds, fake or not, but I'd love to hear what the engine sounds like naturally. I have the BimmerCodes app, so I'll give it a shot.

Fingers crossed yours did get it.

Going for a JCW that is also the Iconic trim, so I'm hoping what you said is true.

At the dealer now, and it does have the H/K! My MA said it's still kind of unpredictable, but you should be at the top of the priority list with an Iconic JCW.

I am picking up my 2022 JCW Clubman on Saturday. Built mid-October and it does have HK if this helps. It is my understanding that September onward build cars will have HK if so ordered. Moonwalk over red top/mirrors, Iconic trim with 19” non-run flat tires mercifully… Excited to have more HP coming from a 2020 JCW HT.

Nice! Congrats on the new JCW! I've considered that combo, but I'm leaning towards Island Blue all around, Malt Brown leather interior, and those awesome looking 19" wheels. Would be coming from a 2016 S, so a pretty significant power bump for me too. Although before the Mini I had a 2015 Golf R and the Cooper S has been significantly more fun, efficient, and reliable.

The last JCW Clubman at my local dealer a couple months ago was the Iconic trim and missing the H/K system, but I have no clue when it was actually built. That's two people with recent deliveries with the H/K so that seems to bode well for me ordering in a month or so barring any further supply chain disruptions...

Island blue would be unique. Good luck with the order and wait. You should be good to go with HK. Presuming everything goes according to plan I’ll post a few images of my car once delivered this weekend.

Well I took delivery of my new 22 Clubman JCW today. Drove it a bit and it is so different compared to my beloved but now gone 20 F56 JCW HT. Obviously, the size and weigh makes it feel less say lively than the F56 but that is definitely offset by the power bump, increased usable space, and general ride comfort. I lived for almost three years with my HT on the non adaptive sport chassis. It was brutal but I got used to it. My Clubman has the 19” wheel option so no adaptive either but it feels much less brittle over less than perfect roads. Still stiff though. It feels very stable through hard cornering, no doubt due to AWD, a longer wheelbase and the non run flat 235 section summer tires. I was going to buy another F56 (new) but the wifey will be using the Mini more moving forward. So the Clubman was the compromise. I also like the additional utility of the car. Build quality is good and all options arrived on the car - e.g. HK and adaptive cruise control. Finally, although not entirely new, I like what they have done in terms or refreshing the multimedia interface. So to sum it up, happy so far and look forward to many fun miles driving it and, for those waiting, you have a lot to look forward to. I will post a few images tomorrow if anyone is interested…

Congrats! Sounds like yours is configured exactly like mine, including the 19" wheels with non run-flat summer tires. The only difference is that you got the HK sound system while it was deleted on mine (with a rebate applied). I find the ride is fine 99.9% of the time, but it's annoyingly harsh over things like railroad tracks and small potholes. (A big pothole that I didn't see when going around a corner at night caused tire damage already). My previous car, an M2, was similarly stiff but not as harsh, and it suffered no tire damage in the 40 months I owned it. It also had more ultimate grip, although traction control could be more intrusive because it had much more horsepower going to the rear wheels. The MINI (with AWD and active brake assist when steering) is pretty neutral.

Thanks. Looks like you have stripes. Mines naked. Missing HK is no big deal. The car is a hoot to drive. Enjoys yours!

What seat option did you choose? I got the JCW dinamica/leather sport seats same as I had in my HT…

Yes, I got the same seats. I normally like regular leather, but these sets prevent sliding around. I'm disappointed that there are no adjustable side bolsters like I had in the BMW. I'm kind of skinny, and being able to adjust the width of the driver's seat is something I've become used to.

Agreed. I owned a lot of sports cars over the years. All had much better sport seats. Best were Porsche’s later 911/Cayman adaptive seats, my F82 M4 seats were pretty good too. JCW seats need more aggressive bolsters and much better upper body support.

That was my wife's choice. I put in the order without stripes, but then went home and talked my wife through what I ordered. She said, "It's a MINI. You have to get the stripes." What the hell. I didn't care one way or the other. We went back to the dealer together the next day so she could approve the color and the trim. She added the stripes.

I think the stripes look great. They do become a PITA as they age if you ever want to remove them. Learned the hard way on a R series Mini back in the day…
