New HU Install - Weird Noise at Start Up

Hi NAM Audio folks,

My kid and I installed a Pioneer AVH-3500 NEX flip head unit in his car over the weekend. We replaced the factory head unit and used the harness adapter to interface with the car. Also installed was an Alpine KTP-445u amp. Car already had Polk db components and 6x9s installed earlier since the originals were turning to dust. Steering wheel controls were retained as well with an ASWC-1.

All went fine, powers up, no ground loop noises, however, at start up, key in either pos 1 or 2, there is an audible whine for about 10 seconds, about the time it takes the head unit to power up. Once the HU is up, the noise goes away. I'm suspecting the RCAs are getting impacted by something, though not sure. We're going to go back in and tidy up some wiring this weekend, so maybe we'll find the answer...

Other than that, nice to have a modern infotainment with CarPlay to help keep this aging go kart on the road.

Figured it out! I had the remote turn on wire for the external amp connected to the 12v switched power source instead of the remote turn on wire (white). D'oh!

Radio boots up and no noise now.
