‘22 Cooper S about to enter production!

Hello All!

This is my first post, as I have ordered a new ‘22 Cooper S 4DR 6MT (White Silver).

I need some advice/confirmation about the roof rails for this 4DR Cooper S.

Full disclosure here, I’ve made the purchase due the deal just being too good to pass up and have always wanted one. I’m in Germany, and this is a special package deal offered to those like myself in just these circumstances.

My question is about a roof rack/rails add-on pre-delivery.

My dealer has advised the roof rails are not part of the special package price and to get them factory installed takes me from a deep discounted price to a far less lucrative price point (feel free to PM me for deets).

To install these post-build seems tp be quite a task, but something I’d expect a dealership able tp handle prior to my taking delivery of the new Mini.

My Sales Rep indicated he’d asked his parts department about my suggestion and received a “that’s not possible” response.

That said, I’ve read posts/accounts of individuals installing them post delivery w/the assistance/info provided by other members and ECS Tuning.

It seems clear the rails are the most secure method for mounting roof rack accessories, and it seems Mini no longer offers rack crossbars to mount onboard a naked/slick roof.

My use for them is to mount a roof box, roof rack, bike racks and ski rack.

Please help me find info or a precedent where a dealership has mounted these rails prior to a new owner taking delivery.

in addition, I’m very interested in seeing other options besides SeaSucker offerings for Mini’s w/out rails.

Thank you!
Tom

Knowing what I know now I rather have the rails. I looked into the Sea Sucker, but I don't believe they're a good idea with a 47 pound eMTB. I have concerns about that amount of stress being concentrated on on a suction cup. I have concerns about it damaging the paint and the metal via flexing

Thanks for chiming in Nicefeet. Agreed… they just don’t seem right for me either.

My focus has now shifted to the ‘how to’ in installing these rails or having it done. It seems the dealerships here in Germany are fine doing warranty work, but not installing their own parts (I.e. roof rails) on the car. Unfortunately, this may end up being my first diy on it.

Was this an Oxford Edition?

MINI is pretty much, take it as is or leave it, with those. In other words, you can't make changes from the what's being offered.

No, I don’t believe so, but I’m assuming that is a trim package/level…?

It has the “Iconic” trim package.

I agree…take it or leave it is exactly what I have been getting from the dealer.

i asked about the Mini cross bars for their card w/out the roof rails in their accessories catalog and ended up convincing the dealer to order them to test fit on one of their Mini’s in-stock.

There parts department wasn’t sure either what exactly this $69 option was actually referring to in the MiniUSA catalog.
