I've decided to go ahead with a muffler delete on my base f56 cooper 1.5t (2016). Watched a bunch of videos and it seems like it gives a really nice sound, but it also not overly loud for regular driving.
My only concern is loss of torque at lower RPM's, does anyone know if a simple rear muffler (backbox) delete will cause any loss of low end torque?

Theres a lot more 1.5/ 3 cylinder info on the British and Euro boards for exhaust modes and straight pipe/tuning.
This thread suggests no huge loss/gains (butt dyno not actual stats sounds like). There does seem to be an even split in "TOO LOUD FOR DAILY vs LOUD BUT OK comments tho.

If i had the cash id do what i saw one Kansas dealership do to the exhaust on the 1.5t 1499GT they had: jcw pro exhaust with pro splitter
Thanks for that, I've done a ton of reading and have already read through that thread, great info for sure. Not sure I like the idea of converting the back bumper to adapt the JCW exhaust, I like the uniqueness of the single pipe cooper. So far the result of a muffler delete are pretty positive with very little downside so I think I'll take my chances and follow through with the delete this Tuesday.
I contemplated a muffler delete on my F57 Cooper, but ultimately went with the Remus exhaust because I was concerned about drone (given the car doesn't have a roof and all). Love the big exhaust tip, too. The little 3-banger has a lot to give and sounds better than the 4-cylinder, in my opinion!

Hey mate, I’d be going with the Remus as well but unfortunately they don’t offer the full catback here in Canada, only axel back. The muffler delete seems to work out really well on the f56 1.5 from what I’ve read and watched so far. Looking forward to adding a beefy aggressive tip as well, wouldn’t mind one that had an elbow pointing up or one with a mean slant cut.
I’m quite happy with my tip 😉😂 It looks OE+ and I prefer that as I generally don’t like overtly obvious mods. I mean, except for the exhaust sound, intake sound, additional speed from the ECU tune...subtle things!
Little update guys, went ahead with the muffler delete today and it sounds incredible. No loss of torque at all, perhaps even a slight gain and smoother feeling throttle. After testing it I also added my new JB+ module, the car is a little rocket now love it.
Thought I could add something, as was in the situation where I wanted some fun noise, but my wife drives the car so doesn't want it sounding ridiculous.
I'm in the UK and couldn't find any system that was made specifically for the f57, so I was going for a muffler delete. Got it up on the ramp and the guys hacked off the muffler and to be honest, my wife would've divorced me. The guy added a beans can sized muffler to test, and to me it was a perfect sound. Would've been too much for the Mrs though. They tried the next can up, and it gave a nice sound when fired up and revved, but is quiet when settled at idle. When I push the car and change up at about 6k rpm, I can just about get myself a little pop to enjoy!
I have a video of me parking it up, with a few revs, if that would help anyone. Pic here for now.

Yeah I added a Racechip at the time of my new muffler, and I fully agree the combination makes it a right little pocket rocket! Supposedly my chip adds about 34hp extra, but whatever these two mods have done, I now don't feel the need for a Cooper S - this is the car it was always meant to be!
Thought I would add something here. I put a regular JCW exhaust on with both stock cats and muffler intact but with the resonator deleted. I think it sounds tremendous in normal use but it's a bit loud when cold starting.

That sounds great - I guess you had to retrofit a JCW bumper, if yours is the 1.5t too, or have you got the 2.0?
Yes I did have to retrofit the bumper. I got lucky finding a JCW bumper but replicating it with a Cooper S rear bumper would be quite simple. Other than sacrificing the spare tire it was painless.
