Coding rear fog lights for brake lights.

Ok who has coded the rear fog lights as brake lights without a fog light switch?
Do you know the coding steps and can you share?
I saw this but I saw some say it won’t work others said it did. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ke-lights.html

Did it using Bimmercode, worked as advertised. Later got the combo switch with fog, and added the fog lights as well.

Rear Fogs as Brake Lights: (This hasn't been checked on a car w/rear fogs working)

BDC_BODY
3065 LceLampMapping4, ED
Funktionen
MAPPING_BREMSL_2_L_OUTPUT
Switch to this
nsl_l (this is the rear fog light choice)

You need to do this for right and left. Above is for left,
For RHS just change the l to r

MAPPING_BREMSL_2_R_OUTPUT

So the brake lights did work with the rear fog lights without the switch once you coded?

I have a F54 without a fog light switch and it worked for me. The only thing I couldn’t get to work is changing the blinker from 3 blinks to 5 blinks. It just wouldn’t save it and would revert back tot he 3 blinks.

I also had to go to the dealer for a recall and was worried they would undo my brake lights, but they didn’t! 👍

The 3-5 blink for me is in the setting of the head unit.

Huh. I see the "exterior lighting" item, but it won't let me select.

I thought the 5 blink feature/option/setting was disabled/removed in the newer software versions.

Did your dealer update your MINI's software as part of implementing the recall?

I brought my 2017 in for the rear barn door recall. I’m not sure what the software may have done for the 3 or 5 blink feature.

I just saw it as an option when I reprogrammed my rear fog light to Brake lights and thought I would try to change it. I guess that is why it didn’t work.

A previous posts shows a separate switch next to the Hansard button. Mine doesn’t have that.

Apparently the barn doors could open while driving. I can’t remember if it had something to do with the rear “Kick to open” option or if they would open if the key was in your pocket and engaged the button.

It was the latter. Never had it happen while driving, but definitely happened in garage and outside. I used Bimmercode to change the fob timing to 5 sec. No more problem.
