Rear Fog lights to Brake Lights

Bought a wiring kit from Pete at Minspeed ,turned my somewhat useless rear fog lights in So. Calif into brake lights.I had Danny at Mini Corsa install the wiring ...took no time at all and they work great....They can see the little guy breaking now....

Got a couple of messages asking how easy the install was...It Took
Danny about 1/2 hour, basically because he never did it before. The wires plugged right in to the fog lights and then there were clips that were pressure clipped with a pliers into the existing brake light wire and viola we have brake lights instead of fog lights that I will probably never use...looks and works great...

Is it possible for you to post pics with the brakes on?
Sounds like something I would like done to increase visibility.
I normally drive with the rear fog lights on.
thanks

Not real great about posting pictures..I will try but the overall effect is great...I now have five brake lights to warn off people on my butt...they look the same as they do with the fogs on ,same bulbs but they now come on only as a brake light....real glad I did it...

I installed both kits (the GoMiniGo brake-flasher and the rear fogs-to-brakes) the first month i had mine; here's a pic from inside my reasonably-dim garage. The MiniSpeed kit is a good value ($75 if you don't have rear fogs) if you consider that the list price at a dealer for just the rear lamp-assemblies is almost that much ... took me forty minutes to install.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing. Can you now use the switch that controlled the rear fogs to control driving lights? I'm thinking about installing them but don't like the options for installing the swtch.

The switch that runs the rear fogs is OBC-controlled (enabled at the factory or at your dealer) and dedicated to the wiring that goes to the rear fogs; you could use that switch's physical location on the control panel for something else, but you'd still hafta break in to the panel and manually wire it up to make it work ... not fun either, from what I see.

You can also install a diode between the brake light circuit and each rear fog light. That way, you can still use the rear fogs if you ever need to, and not have voltage back feed to the OEM brake lights, making them illuminate.
