Front Sway Bar Options

Hey Guys,

I've pulled the subframe out from under my R55 in order to do a bunch of work over the winter. I'm mulling the idea of putting in a larger sway bar while its all apart as it has the usual 23.5mm sway bar. Looking around online there doesn't appear to be a whole lot of options or guys running a larger bar upfront.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Scotty

What size rear sway bar are you running?
Do you have an LSD in the transmission?
What springs/shocks?
I’ve seen 21.5, 24, 25, 26 and 27
mm front
bars listed. No hollow ones.

Rear is a 22mm

Looking at a helical LSD. Jury is still out on which one, but the intent is to install one while the car is apart.

Suspension is an Ohlin Coilover kit. I don’t have the spring rates handy.

With a 23.5mm front bar, it’s making me wonder if it’s worth the money to replace it.

Would only consider a thicker front
bar in combination with an LSD and
a thicker rear bar as well to avoid
increasing wheel spin when cornering
under power and increasing under steer.

I'm considering the same thing. I need to replace my clutch and am considering an LSD and a larger front bar. I currently have a Hotchkiss hollow 25.5 rear bar and if I remember correctly my front bar is also 23.5. I would like to go with an adjustable front bar, but I've only found one so far.

Agreed. Pickings are pretty slim for front options. There was significant mass difference between the aftermarket bar and the stock one I removed in the back. With a front one of nearly 24mm, I feel like a 26mm adjustable would be the minimum starting point to make this worth the $$

That makes sense....haven't found a 26mm bar yet though.

A few options.

I would go with the H&R front and rear set.

I run the 27mm on my personal car and have built many customer cars with the H&R 27mm so that's what I would do and you will really like the way the car will plant itself.
