Navigation & Audio 05 November stock radio, what aux will work?
Navigation & AudioBring your GPS and favorite CD or MP3. This is where navigation and audio options for the Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs are discussed.
The safest would be the factory aux accessory jack which is around $35, but many have used $10-$15 one’s from Amazon or eBay with success. If your car is wired for a cd changer or you have NAV, you’ll probably need to transfer the aux wires from its connector to the connector already plugged into your radio. This is shown in the factory instructions high can be found online.
Not sure when using a factory aux, but a ground loop isolator might be needed if you have any noise or whine with an aftermarket adapter.
What BT unit did you get and are you using it only for music, or calls too?
The pairing did not work. The seler was responsive but the instructions provided did not work. They refunded my $ and didn't ask for it back so may goof around it some more.
The pairing between the phone and unit isn’t happening, or you see the connection on the phone, but no sound is coming out of the radio? That s the first I’ve seen in a small combo unit like that. Most use add aux 3.5mm jack, then plug a BT module or cable into it.
unit to phone...that pairing did not work. phone saw unit briefly then unit disappeared.. if I happened to catch it it hung up and eventually said it couldn't connect. also, the unit name was different than what the seller said it shoudl be.
Almost all of the posts I remember reading use a wired aux port from the radio with a BT unit connected. For a compact hidden setup I’ve been thinking of a wired aux and USB port in the glovebox with Tunai firefly BT adapter.
The Amazon BT module linked above looks like similar version of your defective eBay module. To use either one, you won’t need the wired 3.5mm aux jack in the first link above. With either the aux jack or those BT modules, the wires that go into the back of the radio might need to be transferred to the existing plug in your car depending on it's options.
they were wired differently and plugged into to different section of the connector. would have loved to have BT directly but fo $8 I'm happy enough fo rnow.
