I bought and installed an auxillary input cable for my Sirus satalite radio. I have one of the uviversal satalite radio models that can run thru an FM signal or an AUX input.

Anyway, installation of the cable was a snap. Right away the radio recognized the plug and the AUX mode was available on the radio. Problem is that the radio wil just go to FM mode on it's own. It seems to forget there's a plug in the AUX input! If I cycle through the modes, AUX isn't there. I cycle through a few more times and AUX is back! But after 15 or 20 seconds...back to FM again and the cycle begins again!

I've checked the plug and all seems well. It will do this with the car running or shut off and perfectly still.

I'm stumped. Any ideas?

BTW, I have a stock radio/CD, not the Harmon Kardon unit

Sounds like you need a grounding loop to me. Do a search on it and you should find lots of info. My headunit was always loosing the AUX mode until I installed one (now it's fine).

After reading the threads it was obvious I was suffering the same issue. Motored over to radio shack. Bought a ground loop. Installed it. Problem solved!!

This is a great example of NAM and the MINI community, friendly and helpful.
