Automatic Transmission in Sports Mode

I drive a 2015 MCS with the Aisin sports transmission. I recently drove a 2019 MCS with the new DCT and noticed a big difference in the downshifting RPM/MPH when in auto sports mode. It seems like the newer DCT downshifts sooner to put the engine at the optimal RPM when slowing down. Has anyone experienced this? Is there any way to reprogram the Aisin?

That's the nature of the dual clutch transmission versus a standard torque converter like we have in 2018 and prior cars. Supposedly there's a remap available for the Aisin auto transmission, but I haven't seen anyone report on its effects or any impact to the lifespan of the transmission.

From reading posts and tuners in the VW world, it seems DCT transmissions are much better at remapping, but no idea what the one in the new Cooper S can handle for power/torque. Supposedly it can't handle much which is why MINI/BMW opted for the 8-speed auto for the 2020+ JCWs.
