Constant shifting of automatic in manual mode bad?

My mother just gave my wife and I her 2013 Mini. It's a blast to drive but I find myself constant farting around with the gear shift. (It's an auto) In auto mode one minute, manual the next, sport mode then out of sport mode. One would think it would raise the temp o the trans an increase wear.

Any thoughts? Thanks

No, the transmission is designed to do all those things.

And I'm pretty sure the computer will keep you from doing something that would damage the transmission (ie drop it into first at 80mph).

I have an 06 with the Auto and I usually leave it in auto " D " around town.

When I drive out of town, freeways and back roads its in the manual mode.

Keep Motoring !
