F56 Cooper S AUTO - Remap information

Hi.

I would love some input from owners of MCS F56 Automatic who have remaped their cars. Any problems? How does the car feel etc.

I have just recently remaped my car and i feel like the gearbox is shifting a little wierd/confused sometimes, also the throttle is so aggressive that i cant properly drive the car in Mid or sportmode in traffic
since the whole car jerks away when touching the accelerator, probably due to "sharpened throttle response". Car: Mini Cooper S F56 2.0T with Aisin Sport Automatic Gearbox (2014).

Car is Stage 1

I have only driven the car 5 times since the tune, is is something that "Settles down" when the gearbox adapts to the newfound torque?

I have a piggyback Dinan Elite, so not truly comparable. I do find in Sport Mode that it can often be twitchy to drive and in certain situations I'll back off to mid mode because of it. I can imagine an overly tuned car might be as you describe.

You say you have driven 5 times, but for how many miles? In my past MINI experience it doesn't take long for the car to adapt to changes. Who did the tune and have you questioned them on it?

My stage 1 re map didn’t seem to change the characteristics of shifting at all, even from the first time it fired up. I’ve never really liked the over-sensitivity of the throttle in Sport mode, so I end up always driving in mid. In my opinion, my stage 1 in mid mode didn’t change the throttle sensitivity at all and it’s perfect for me. Good luck with it. But I do have the 2019 JCW automatic.

I agree with you, "with tune" it feels like the car dumps too much boost during an upshift, so the trans feels like a weird shift.

I’ve a 2019 MCS with DCT and using Racechip. The map is very good, smooth power when I lightly press the pedal but power kicked in hard when I step on the pedal.

Hi yes exactly like that! Mind sharing who remaped your car via PM? I dont wanna bad rep the firm that tuned my car before they have a possibility to fix it.

Btw how is your sportmode? When i push the accelerator it feels like OFF/ON, when pusing 1% down the car jerkes forward accelerating.. In Green its much more nicer and controlled.

I'm running a stage 2 MCS automatic. Currently @ 300hp/300ftlbs. No problems at all. It all come's down to the map of the engine. I've had problems with the gearbox that would lock up in 4th gear or shifts into 5th and then locks up when doing a pull. The stage 1 map was the problem. So my specialist tuner took the car back to stock with newest software on the DME and then mapped it to 300hp. Now zero problems. It should not be aggresive, it should have a flat torque curve and very lineair power delivery. Best for engine and gearbox. Aggresive map is not good for drivetrain and pistons

Sounds like a dream! Mind sharing the tuner? I have just sent the ”tune” back and asked for a refund (OBD canned tune) so looking for a new tuner now!

Is your a 6 speed or 8 speed automatic?

Thanks

I'm from Belgium and my tuner is located in Germany. (RW-edition) they make some crazy fast Mini's. I have the "older" gearbox. 6 speed aisin. I drove the 8 speed and i was not impressed. Maybe because it was a stock jcw 😅

Currently running a Dinan Elite piggyback, but after throwing on boost pipes, rear intake pipe, intercooler, and Eventuri I'm curious what I can do to improve power with a non sport auto trans.
