Mini Cooper S Battery

I need advice please, on a replacement battery for my 2005 Mini Cooper S convertible. The battery I need to replace has this information printed on the label: (Mini Insignia), then 12V, 55 Ah 480 A, 90 RC 480 CCA. The positive battery cable is heavy duty compared to the black cable, and it also has a rectangular box on the positive cable, just before the battery connection.

Is there an exact replacement...same size/weight?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

There should be another number somewhere that is code for the size and location of the posts. Should be the same as the R53. Battery in the back. Most retailers have a chart for make and model to tell you which battery to get, online you can select your year, make, model, etc. You don't have to get a MINI branded battery.

Edit: This is what I found going through Costco's website. I bought a battery there for another car recently and the price was very good compared to other retailers. I'm surprised this is as much as it is except it looks like this is an AGM which cost more than a conventional battery. I think the "47" indicates the style (size, post location and type, etc) of the battery.

Nothing black magic about it. 1st replacement I drove in to a major auto parts store, told the guy year and model of the car, he poked a few buttons and soon came out and replaced the old one. Some years later, same thing. Last time was in my go to indie shop, he called his supplier and shortly had a new one installed, easy peasy.

I've got an Optima, 'red" top that works great in my JCW car.
I know of another "S" owner that just put an Optima, yellow top in his car.

It's really not rocket science, or a 500 cubic inch engine that needs a battery with lot of power.

The battery type is an H. Advance auto, Oreilly, Walmart, an most others will carry battery. Just depends on what you want to spend.

Advance Auto Parts has a good replacement. It's an AGM made by Johnson Controls, who also manufactures Interstate batteries. Advance Auto Parts calls theirs, AutoCraft Platinum. Ordinarily they would install the battery, but for my Mini, it's no go. Those of you who bought a new battery and plopped it in no-problem...you didn't have to have the computer system reset?

FITMENT DETAILS 2005 Mini Cooper S (1.6L 1600CC L4 FI Supercharged VIN: W11B16A). Free In-Store Installation not available for this vehicle, requires professional install; Battery is vented to outside of vehicle.; OE manufacturer used various size batteries in production. Verify Battery Size in Vehicle.; Vehicle computer system must be reset, contact your service specialist; Installation may take up to 30 minutes. Battery located in trunk.; OE Exact Fit; OE Spec: OE Group H5; OE CCA 480; Battery Spec: 680 CCA; 3 Year Free Replacement
