Phone paring help please

Trying to pair my iPhone 11 to my 2007 MCS but all I get is what you see in the pic. It's not the original radio, but one I swapped in. Can anyone help?

blue tooth was an option on a 2007 ... did you have it with the earlier radio? I don't think swapping the head unit will gain you BT ....

I assume it did, but with the radio display not working (reason for the swap) I never tried to pair it. The steering wheel has the phone controls.

sad to say but steering wheel had controls whether or not BT was installed ....

try a VIN decoder to check the original options ....

try: https://www.mdecoder.com/

I ran my 07 and it correctly said BT was NOT installed but was available as on add on (at the original time)
ran my R59 and it reported correctly for this as well . . .

- Here is a good one, yes it is older but does the trick if you have it.

not how it worked on my '15 (still GEN2) but worth a try . . .

<the process is so convoluted on my '15 that when Mrs changed phones it took me better than 30 minutes to stumble thru>

BUT ...

I believe 'bottom line' is what happens when you select 'phone'?????

if NOTHING ... I suspect BT is not in your car ....

I honestly can’t remember how I paired my 09. I paired it before we even pulled out for test drive and the rest is history.

Thanks for the replies!!! I guess mine didn't have the bluetooth option installed. According to the Vin decoder tool on the site it says "Mobile phone prewire *Late Availability*" and mine was produced in June of '07.

do you want the BT for music or phone capability?

You know that you can play music simply by running an audio cable from the headphone connection to the AUX port?

and for phone there are adapters that connect to the AUX port ...

you won't have control thru steering wheel but basic sound can get to speakers . . .

My wife was wanting it for the phone capability. We've been using the AUX port for music and it works great!

Unfortunately, retrofitting Bluetooth functionality is not as simple as swapping the head unit. You also need to:
  1. Install the ULF-SFX-Hi module (the actual Bluetooth interface) which lives under the drivers seat;
  2. Install the Bluetooth aerial (which is mounted under the center column);
  3. Install the microphone module into the overhead console;
  4. Modify the wiring harness to add the missing wiring;
  5. Install the optical fiber cabling (MOST bus) between the ULF and the radio; and
  6. Code everything up either using ISTA/P or NCSExpert.
The replacement radio you got must have been coded to expect the Bluetooth hardware (which is why it shows up in the menu), but without the rest of the hardware you're dead in the water. All in all, it's much easier to just buy an aftermarket Bluetooth module which plugs into the Aux In and call it a day.
