Bulb check warning light and CARLY app

I installed led headlight bulbs in my 2010 r56 base model, and using the supplied adapters i was able to get the headlight bulb warning to turn off. I tried to install led bulbs in the lower parking lights but get the warning. Does anyone know if I use the CARLY app to turn off the warm and cold bulb checks will this allow me to use led light bulbs in my lower parking lights without getting any warnings?

Yup. You should be able to turn off all the bulb checks in the Carly app.

Awesome! Thank you. I know it’ll turn off the issue that causes my headlights from Strobing, I just wanted to make sure it will turn off the issue that sets Off the warning. The car looks real good with LED headlights but the incandescent parking lights really bring it down.

I have almost all my exterior lights converter to LED, with the exception of the fender markers. (have some on order from EBay) I used the Carly app to decode the bulb checks.

My car has factory HID headlights, too.

My understanding is the cold check is performed at start-up, it is the rapid flashing often seen when LEDs are installed. The warm check monitors the bulb during operation, and senses if the bulb goes out during use. I turned them all off

I agree and it’s super frustrating! Nothing like, looking like a tool and drawing attention to yourself!

well I paid the 63.00 for the Carly app tonight and was able to get my headlights to stop flashing!! Now the only issue I am still having is I still get the bulb out warning when I try to replace my lower parking light bulbs with LED bulbs. I cant find anyway to get LED bulbs to work in sockets. They will light up but it shows the bulb issue on the tach. Does anyone have info that can help me solve this?

There should be a setting in Carly to turn off The bulb checks for each bulb location, not just one blanket setting for all bulbs.

I went through the whole app meticulously and did find Light voltage checks for everything, but nothing for the front parking lights. I went through and I turned off voltage checks for every light system in the car, There was even a setting for Angel eyes which I don’t believe my car has and I turn that off. The moment I insert the LED bulbs in the parking light sockets it kicks off a code . So super frustrated

BimmerCode is a good alternative. I used it to toggle all the warm and cold lamp current monitoring OFF on my 2013 MC as well as a few other convenience items. Plus I am able to use a generic OBD adapter that I had laying around for my other vehicles.

Did BimmerCode give a parking light option? I have a Generic adapter that I am using for the Carly app. It works for most ecu’s on the car just not the safety Ecu. The only other issue is that it is WiFi not Bluetooth and l tried to download the app to test it would not connect to my phone. I am using a ELM 27 adapter

I could have sworn there was an option for the parking lights... Is it labeled "upper fog light" or something like that?

When I get a chance, I'll go connect to my car and see what I can see.

Thank you. I Literally turned everything off on the Carly app regarding voltage checked with lights. For some reason I can’t figure it out

I have found that the Carly App does not have every option programmed for the light checks. Since it is a manual process for them to set up the coding (they are basically writing scripts to perform the coding changes) they seem to only have done the "popular" codes. It also appears that Carly is not updating their app for any new codes for the Mini.

Honestly the best solution to this is to learn to code the "hard" way using a netbook/laptop and NCSExpert. The learning curve is rather steep though. The upshot is you can do literally anything that you want with any code and also possibly discover new options. I have yet to tackle the challenge on the Mini. I used to code on my BMW's and it isn't super hard, you just need to be careful and follow the guides meticulously. Plus, everything is in German so you will end up learning some choice German words. :p

Edit, there is a couple of threads in the Electrical section that go over how to get started with coding and what options other have found:
