Unmetered air??

Hello everyone looking for some help. I just bought a R55 Clubman S (‘09) with 54k original miles but with “mechanical issues”. It was delivered with the valve cover loose bolts out and coils in the car. I reinstalled everything to start it. Sounded like crap with a fluttering noise coming from the head and by the looks of the top of the head it doesn’t look like the oil has been changed much.

I finally got it running enough that I sucked in some Seafoam and wow what a difference. I drained what was left in the crankcase and filled her up with new Mobil1 and a new filter. I now runs great with now noise and runs like a 54k mile car should but after awhile and will quit running then I canted get it restarted until it cools down. The code pulled from the ECU is unmetered air( forgot the code #) so I did a smoke test and nothing. So whatever is this unmetered air cause it to die and not restart? I’m going to pull off this intake tomorrow to inspect. Please I’m open to suggestions.
Thanks!

stupid question but is there an air filter in the box?

Intake should look like this minus OCC.

Hmmmm, can you take pics? Unmetered is after the MAF if I’m not mistaken. Are all hose clamps tight down to turbo, the 4 screws on air box.

Make sure the turbo inlet tube isn’t cracked at the turbo inlet. This is common.

Also, make sure the PCV breather hose that goes to the intake manifold from the back of the valve cover isn’t cracked. This is common.

I’m going to try to replace them without removing the engine, one piston at a time.

Should be able to do that. Pull the head, and follow a similar procedure to replacing rod bolts....
