I don't know if anyone already posted this... But here it goes
Maybe you didn't notice, but some F54 JCW come with "partial" auto lights. Your lights come on and off when it gets dark (even when on the 0 position) BUT they don't act as Welcome Lights when it's dark. Welcome Lights work only when you leave the lights switch in the ON position, and the ALWAYS turn on... Even during daylight. Pretty annoying and useless.
First I thought it was a software issue, but even with Bimmercode i was not able to find a walkaround for this. So it should be hardware. My car have all the sensors needed to check if its dark or light, so that should not be a problem. Long story short, the "problem" was the Lights Switch. I found one on eBay with the added "Auto Lights" position (check photo), popped out the stock one, in with the "upgraded" one and there it goes. Everything works as it should. If you leave it on auto, welcome lights will turn on when you open the car at night (both with remote or comfort access on the door). No coding needed.
The part i bought for my 2017 Euro F54 Clubman JCW without front fog lights) is n°: 61319865841
You can also buy these, they should be exchangeable (The light switch is shared only with the F65, F55 and F57) 61316824875 (07.03.2016 — 18.01.2018) 61319390251(02.11.2015 — 19.04.2017) 1319301802 (02.12.2013 — 29.03.2016)
The new switch with the "Auto" position on the left. Part number: 61319865841
Nice. I used Bimmercode to activate the rear fogs as brake lights, but I'm kicking myself that a year ago I saw a switch on ebay (from Lithuania) that had the rear fog switch, but I didn't get it. Haven't seen it since. :/
Looks like this one: https://www.outmotoring.com/switch-l...316824875.html (also reference by OP above) has just the rear fog light button, as well as all the other features (assuming you have a rain sensor/automatic headlights).
I bought part number 61319865845. This has buttons for front and rear fog lights, as well as four positions for headlights (auto, off, parking lights, headlights). I originally thought that front fog lights could be enabled without rewiring, but that's not the case :(. Still figuring out what is involved to get the wires with harnesses out front for front fog lights, it's a retrofit that I'd like to achieve some day...
Anyway, the switch that I bought will work for you too. If you don't have front fog lights, just don't code them in. Then only the rear fog light button will work.

So, if you were to install the panel to the F54 that has the rear fog light switch, will it work as a plug and play, or do you still have to use Bimmercode to activate it?
You do have to code the rear fog lights to work, if you just install the switch the button won't actually do anything (actually, it will put a message onto the vehicle CAN bus I guess, but the body controller will ignore the message because the feature isn't coded).
I haven't done that with Bimmercode, but rather used the more complicated e-sys with an ethernet-to-OBD2 cable to permanently code the feature in the car (feature S5AAA iirc)...I guess bimmercode can do it though, and with it you might not need to know the order option ;-). I've been meaning to give bimmercode a try so I guess I could try and un-code my car and re-code it with bimmercode, to see if/how it works...
I've been looking for this solution for a while so I can have auto lights as well as welcome headlights. All the threads I've looked at only pointed at bimmercode coding but I haven't found a result like this one will give.
Question, what trims do you need to remove and is it difficult? I've only had my clubman for just over a month and not had any experience in removing trims in cars. Thanks

If you have a brand new car, let the service dept. at the dealership do it for you. Shouldn’t cost much. Also, it sounds like something that should have been stock.

I have successfully fitted the new light control on my car, a bit more brute force than I would've liked but I shouldn't need to touch that panel again.
Seems to be working as expected without coding.

Thanks again Nimrandir!
Yeah... I was kind of scared too :D
Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for the switch ? I was able to find it on eBay for 65$ shipped.

But when you have front and back fog lights you only have to replace the switch without coding anything?
Then i go to think about it , if its what i whant to do when i need to coding the fog lights, thanks for your answer
There might be some confusion.
For the rear fog lights, you need the new light switch assembly that includes a working button for the rear fogs, and you need to code to enable the rear fog option (typically using the phone app Bimmercode). That's because the wiring and the fixture(s) with bulbs for the rear fogs are there even on MINI's without the option from the factory.
However, for MINI's without the front fog option from the factory, there is a lot more work. Beyond needing a new light switch assembly that includes a working button for the front fogs, and coding to enable the front fog option, you will also need new front light fixtures and additional wiring.

I have factory foglights on the front so i dont have to codeing them , i only have to code the fog light on the back , and sorry if i ask it again but i have original front an rear fog lights en mij switch that i have now have to **** for the rear and the front . But i have to code the rear anyway ?
hello everyone, I'm looking for the same thing, because I don't have position A (11 a.m.) so no welcome light. on the other hand, once installed, what happens when you put it on position 0? because I would like it to deactivate the light sensor and leave the DRL daytime running lights on for the passage of the tunnels.

Hey jumping on this post in the hope it'll be seen, I've just bought a new switch, as coming from an f56 I miss the welcome light. Could you update as to how you removed the trim. I've done lots of Google searches but can't seem to find anything. Many thanks
