Look at the photo: damaged valve cover?

Hi folks. Since pulling the head and replacing the valves on my 09 Clubman S N14 I’ve had the pesky P115c code coming up repeatedly, along with the occasional P1497. I have tightened all intake components including intercooler, replaced the PCV tube (cracked), cleaned the MAF sensor (looked ok before cleaning) and cleaned the throttle body (dirty). No improvement in codes. I examined the valve cover closely and noted a gap near the PCV outlet. It this a problem or just the way they are?
