My car came with an occ on it..I don't think it's on correctly as I've never had 1 drop of oil in it..
mine runs off the right side of the valve cover and intersects into another line that goes down under by the intake ..I never seen one here ,only ever off behind the pcv valve ...is mine on incorrect ?????
Mine comes off the crankcase vent hose not the pcv valve hose ...wtf???

That doesn't sound right, can you supply a picture for reference? The DPO of my '05 MCS removed a catch can installed by the first owner and it was mounted in front of the passenger (LHD-US) in the fresh air bucket and routed form the PCV as you said.
Lol I'm sure it's wrong . It's coming off my valve cover and intersecting my intake geeez....
do I just hook that line up from the intake back to the valve cover ? I'm going to remove it and install it correctly..idiots.
now,should I have the filter on the catch can to vent ? I've never seen a vented can on an R53 before ,or should I keep it sealed like I have it ( I removed the filter already as it was causing a vacuum leak where installed )

Correct me if I'm wrong .
I run the vacuum line from the right side of the valve cover to a T and I also run a line off the pcv valve into that T and have it connect to the oil catch can . Then I run the out line of the oil catch can to the intake tube ?

So it just basically puting the can inline behind the pcv valve then ??? Just having to reroute lines then..
also should I just leave this catch can in place where it is ? It didn't catch any oil 6 months of owning the car buuut it did have a filter in it screwing up vacuum so as of yesterday I capped off the filter .

Actually, that side doesn't matter, the driver side outlet of the rocker cover is actually just a filtered crank case vent to open air, that's why you haven't had any issues, but also no oil residue.
Location of the can doesn't matter, I just like a clean engine compartment, but yes, it just goes inline between the PCV and the intake (where the PCV attaches to now).
I checked my oil catch can and it's not labled in/out...
Should I assume the left port is the in ? If I open it ,is there a way to tell ?
Not only is it in the wrong area on my car I'm almost positive the lines are wrong in it too. The right side of the can goes to the valve cover and the left side to my intake .. ( just tonight I switched them around and installed new pcv valve )
Unfortunately they are most likely not all the same, but mine is:
(looking from the top, as a U shape)
Right Side - In from PCV
Left Side - Out to vacuum
As long as the system is sealed as it should be, it won't really hurt anything if it's backwards, this is an advantage to a sealed system. It really just needs 2 open ports and shouldn't need to be directional except for some possible internal screening. (Which should of course be on the "IN" side of things.)
But again this could easily vary from mfg to mfg.

Lol 180$ . I don't like those ones with windows , I've seen many leak after a few years of use( not the m7,similar designed ones).
My 20$ can seems to be working just fine...the only difference between it and one 10x the price is is doesn't have an internal filter though it does have baffling to prevent sucking up the caught oil.
Here's what I did to my $180 can (LoL):

Since you are now running a dual occ, I’m curious if you have seen anything in the left side occ. I installed a tvs900 sc and figured this is the perfect time for a occ before I button it all up.

I never ended up keeping on the one on the drivers side , it never got any oil in it , thats where it was when I got my car but thats not the correct spot . The pic above is the correct spot and I DO catch oil in it now.

I have heard a lot of people say this location is too hot. I guess I don't really know because I am not pushing my car and getting everything really, really hot for extended periods of time, but I mocked up the same can in the same spot and you can put your palm to it after the hardest driving I do- not hot at all. I am not saying this is the right spot, but why does everyone think being right there heats it up so much?
I understand what they are saying. Logically if the can is hot enough to boil the content the vapor continues down the path and renders the can pointless, but you have physical proof it does accomplish its task in this location. I’ve wondered about this theory because you’d think if true, the antifreeze reservoir would boil too.
