Soften hard clutch

Hi everyone.
After many years with the idea of one day being the owner of one MINI I just bought one R52 116CV with manual transmission and 50000 miles. It looks like new.

Everything is perfect for me except the hardness of the clutch that I think can be a serious problem for me.

if I am not wrong my car mounts a single mass flywheel so the option of use the Valeo kit conversión to single mass recomended for the Cooper S is not an option for me.

Please, I would like to know your opinions about the possibilities ot smoothing the clutch in some way (the cost would not be a problem)
Thank you.

I switched my R53 to a Valeo single-mass unit and thought I had done something wrong during the installation because the clutch feel was so light. Not so and it performs beautifully.

I cat tell from your description if you have a Cooper or a Cooper S cabrio. Use the link, plug in the last 7 of your VIN. Drill down to the flywheel to see if you have a dual mass flywheel or not.

The Valeo single mass conversion kit provides a surprisingly soft clutch pedal feel.

Thank you for the information!
Bruce, very interesting your link.

According to the information provided I am not sure what type of clutch my car owns:

01Set clutch partsD=200MM121207561754$271.80
02AT-clutch diskD=200MM1
21207560121$103.18
03Clutch release bearing1
21517536725$63.28

21211043920$1.08
05Clutch rel.fork lever1
23117545083$38.70
06Pressure pin1
23117545084$2.18

I think (I read it in a site I don't remember) that the clutch that non-s mount is single mass but I'm not 100% sure.

Non S has a spring centred clutch disk utilizing a solid (single mass) flywheel. Replace the clutch and enjoy a good pedal. I also replace the clutch slave for good measure.

You have a Cooper "NON S" based off that vin link on realoem;

Its a single mass set up on a 5 speed getrag manual transmission with no factory pilot bearing.

Options: https://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2006-...etrain/Clutch/

The Genuine MINI one is listed, as well as Valeo and Luk version of the OEM.

Thank you very much guys for the answers and for your help.

Forgive me if I don't understand it well. My English is not very good at all and I have very little knowledge of mechanics.
I understand that with the Valeo and Luk version of the OEM my pedal clutch will be lighter, is that correct or am I wrong?

I would greatly appreciate your opinion about how the Valeo version clutch for the Cooper non S compares the with the Valeo single mass clutch conversion kit for the R52/R53 S version? (in terms of pedal lightness).

Thank you!!

Hello,

The Cooper Valeo or Luk clutch (my link above) is the replacement i have replaced mine and the pedal feel was better then the old one but that is because it was older and used/high mileage

I have not seen a person put the 6 speed conversion kit from Valeo in a 5 speed.

Thank you again for your help. I think I'm not going to change the clutch to my non-s Cooper R52. I will look for a good Cooper S slowly and I will install the valeo kit Conversion.
