Clutch problems
so my mini stop on me the other day just would not go into gear.
had it towed and the mechanic says i need a new clutch. cool fine now i'm wandering about what kind of clutch to put in is it poosible for a DIY on this and should I replace the flywheel as well, even though he told me it was fine.

I know you're new here, but you need to throw in some more info. Year, type, maybe mileage.
But if it's a R50, there's only one clutch that will fit, the OEM type.
For an R53, I've heard people go for the Valeo clutch kit.
As for DIY, entirely possible if you have the skill, tools, and space. Search it on here, or google it, there are many how to's.

Go with Luk or Valeo (stock kits). There are a ton of threads on this and many have had problems with anything else. As for the flywheel, there is no way to really tell what you will need until the mechanic opens it. It is a dual mass flywheel and is fairly expensive.
The Valeo kit comes with a flywheel and it is pretty cheap but a good kit.

Many people have had problems with other clutches burning out fast.
