This might seem like a very stupid question, but I've never owned a set of Volk Racing wheels before (I'm about to place an order). After reading through various threads I'm now totally confused on the lug nut versus bolt issue. I guess the MINI has lug bolts, but what about Volk wheels?

I know these will come with all the necessary hardware for mounting (including the hubcentric rings) but will they be a simple direct bolt-on or do I have to mess around with changing wheel studs etc? I'm totally confused.

If it matters, the wheels are 16x7" with an offset of ET42.

Will the OEM wheel bolts work with these rims?

I think your stock lug bolts will work fine. Im using stock lug bolts on my
SSR Comps because it has the same conical tapering on the lug holes.

I have Volks ce28's and has provisions for 5 or 4 bolt holes (4X100).
Standard lug bolts works just fine.

Make sure you get some sort of hubcentric spacer with them. They should at least give you the nylon/plastic ones. I had a set of aluminum ones for my LE 37's as i was taking them on and off a lot for track work.

It was seeing the photos of your 17" LE37Ts on www.teammightyminiz.com that finally helped me make up my mind I hope the 16"s look OK with their smaller spokes.

Are the open-ended lug bolts in your photos the ones Volk supplied with the wheels? I've asked for aluminum hubcentric rings; let's hope they send these and not the plastic ones.

I think it's definitely wise to fit some wheel locks so I guess I'll try to use my OEM locking lug bolt, assuming there's enough thread length on the OEM ones because of the different offset.

 

Those open ended nuts are called " tuner " lug nuts . I converted my hubs from lugs to studs about a year ago as they are safer IMHO and definatly easier to change wheels which I do frequently for track days etc.

I too am using the stock bolts for my CE28N's, without issue. Make sure you get the centering rings (56.1mm, the same as a few Hondas), as I did not recieve them initially. I also got the 16x7 42 offset, and have not regretted the purchase. I was out the door I think for $1,250 (cash). At 10.75lbs, if you find a lighter 16, it won't be by much . Enjoy!

 

the plastic ones that i got directly from volk are very high quality, i know people like the aluminum one but i'd be worried with the rings seizing to the hub.
