According to rumors, lore and or word of mouth, they aren't building ANY with a 3rd pedal. So went the buggy whip.

My wife wanted to replace her
2001 VW Cabrio with another
2-door 4-seat manual transmission
convertible.
Slim pickings for anything decent
nowadays. She just got a new BMW
M240i convertible with a 6-speed
manual transmission and is very
happy with it, although the price
was quite a bit higher than what
we were initially aiming for.

Huh... I'm baffled by the elimination of the 3rd pedal for the 'vert JCW. Same drivetrain as the JCW Hardtop right? It even had the second highest manual take rate at 32%.

This feels like either a typo from MF, a planning mistake from MINIUSA, or some complicated emissions thing that nobody can explain.

Was at the dealer today. They said they are still on track to ship manuals to the US in March.

If it gets the same engine as Clubman/Countryman that would explain it, since the 300hp engine isn't available with manual

While that would be cool I think the GP3 owners would riot.

Possibly, but GP has been focused on handling. HP was same or close to a JCW from what I remember. Sucks either way, it went from only being available as a manual to now not even an option. But so the automotive landscape goes these days.

I will say, I thoroughly enjoy when the hottest version of a car is a manual exclusive, not the other way around. GP 1 & 2 / Civic Type-R / Golf R32 / Focus RS / Veloster N / Abarth 695 Biposto off the top of my head. (I fear my hot hatch bias is showing...)

But your point is well taken, the JCW 'vert may use a de-tuned GP drivetrain.

Someone will manual swap a GP3, just waiting for it to happen.

Yep, sharing drivetrains on production is most likly why this happened with certain models that will lose the manual.
