Tensioner/Harmonic Balancer area building the most reliable setup?

My tensioner and idler failed. I purchased a Gates Kit which included the Tensioner, Idler, and belt.

Besides getting an aftermarket harmonic balancer, it seems that there are some tensioner add ons (like bushings or something) for that area etc.

I really disliked doing this job and want to avoid doing work in that area for as long as possible yet don't really feel like reading about what these add ons can do.

Are they going to increase realiability? I read some poster saying that the bushings around their tensioner shock went bad in just a few months.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
