Drag Strip Venture

Went at the last minute on stock rims and run flats (bad choice). Had to turn the car down and leave on traction control...still plenty of wheelspin...
0-60ft 2.2371sec
1/8th mile 9.5941 sec/78.11mph
1/4 mile 14.5671 @ 102.18mph
Temps at 80 Degrees that night

Nice numbers and color
I found a motorweek article that put our cars (auto tho) at 0-60 mph: 5.8 seconds, 1/4 mile: 14.2 seconds @ 102 mph. How did you get 0-60 in less than half that? 1/4 mile seems right on.

He was referring to the 60 foot mark, not 60MPH.

Thanks, my eyes (and brain) are not what they used to be, nor have I been to a drag/track strip.

Wheelspin on the run flats was the deciding factor...next time on 225/40/17 Bridgestone RE71Rs should make a difference. Predicting a 13.9?? at 104 if everything goes right...

Be interesting to see if you can pick up 7/10's of a second with the tire change.. It's hard on the clutch but it needs to be slipped a good distance out to keep wheel spin down...

With 225/40/17 Bridgestone RE71Rs and a WaveTrac LSD...I think it will be faster

Not saying it can't be done. How many runs did you do in your current setup to get to this best time.. If adding better tires and the LSD after these times that will be a big help compared to just changing tires...

I am guessing your MPH will be about the same, only difference being the ET. Your MPH, even with wheel spin is an indication of HP, while ET is more of an indication of traction. Back when I used to drag race my Mustang, I was always playing with my cam timing to find the particular 'sweet spot' for the particular weather conditions. While I would watch the change effect my ET's, my MPH would always remain pretty steady. Best time I had on that car was 13.7@100mph with a 1.8 60ft, but that is RWD and on slicks/skinny's. I think your ET of 13.9 is pretty close with the cheater RE-71R's with FWD. I am currently running RE-71R's on my Mustang and they are as good, if not better than the drag radials from back in the day for traction.

Just installed my new NM Exhaust ad all I can say is WOW!!! Sounds and Looks Great...and the power is definitely up a bit...help with all the little things I have done...Forge Pipes, AWE Air Intake and NM Power Module...will be fun next time to see any difference...

My 1979 Mazda RX7 SCCA ITA car would do 14.0 @100mph time after time...2200# ~175hp
My 1987 RX7 Turbo SCCA ASP car would do 12.7 @ 100+mph time after time...2600# ~370+hp
