Any chance there could be a MINI Marketing and Collectibles Thread?

There are many of us collectors of MINI press kits, brochures, ads, and gear who could use a place to discuss new finds and make trades.

I think you just started one.

I'm moving this from site feedback to Marketplace. I'm also going to stick this post, at least for a while, so you can get a little more exposure given that this topic, if successful, should go on for some time and it's not for the sale/exchange of just one item.

Not sure being under "Marketplace" is proper since this forum states: "MINIs for sale, group buys, special offers and more...this is the place to buy or sell anything MINI-related."

Let's see how much interest there is in this. All you collectors of all things MINI post your interest here and at least we can find out who we are.

I'm open to suggestions for where to put this, Marketplace just seemed natural to me though.

As far as a forum goes, let's keep an eye on the thread, if there is good traffic around the subject, I have no real problem making a forum for it.

 

As a MINI advertisements, promotions, etc. collector (and MINI owner!) of course I'm interested in some type of forum so I don't have to bug just James with my excitement when I find a new ad or MINI goodie!!!! I have followed some threads on this topic but they seem to drop off. If we knew that there was a specific thread and didn't have to sort through other stuff that would be great!

 

Can this thread be moved? I'm afraid that those who collect won't see this thread here under Marketplace!! Yikes!!!!!

Thanks for the change to MINI Talk! Wouldn't it be great if all the MINI collectors of the MINI goodies, ads, etc. had a place to talk!! Oh what a wonderful world it would be!!!! I personally have five binders full of MINI "stuff" and my husband is wondering if I have gone over the edge. The MINI edge that is!!! Do member collect only MINI USA stuff or all MINI things? I saw two new postcards this morning on ebay that are from Thailand that look pretty cool-

 

I feel lonely... are there no other crazy people like me out there who search high and low for the next MINI ad? Who drive miles to search through used magazines for old ads? Who have suitcases full of MINI goodies? I thought that they were out there but alas -no reponse. Sure would be nice to chat with fellow collectors....

 

I've picked up a few diecasts and have some press kits from past years. What sorts of things do you have, annes?

I have all the press kits and some very strange stuff from 2001 untill now. So whats up?

 

Here is a pic of my 1:8 scale RC MINI Cooper. It is complete with working lights, turn signals. You start the car and it makes engine noises and get louder when it starts moving. It has a horn. and when you press the lock button on the radio control the alarm beeps. Pretty cool.

I have duplicates of a lot of ads I would be willing to trade. I'll make a list of them soon.

I collect mostly written materials: press kits, dealer kits, brochures, and magazine ads and inserts. But I also have lots of promotional items from the US, UK, and Germany. My favorites are an orange hand-held electric fan for the introduction of the German MINI Cabrio and a stick of rock candy for the press review of the UK MINI One D.

I made a list of all the MINI magazine ads and inserts which was shown on MotoringFile. But after they posted the address, I went over my bandwidth. So if you want to see the list, send me a private message for the link.

Where do you find a 1:8th size model of the MINI? That's great!
Does anyone know anything about Holiday cards that the dealers may have? Someone mentioned this to me but I haven't seen anything yet-another collectible!

 

A couple of months ago, Playboy came out with an article or some kind of pictures of how to make love in a MINI !! Which month and year was this article from? I regret not having it when i had a chance. I would like to find it and keep it as a collectible . Thank you!!!

 

It's in Dec. 2002 Playboy. I ordered a copy from Playboy as I wasn't sure about a copy that had been laying around that long!!! Does any one have the cover for the November Playboy that had the Let's Take It Off ad on th eback cover. I have the ad but not the plastic wrapper which had the MINI's roof on it! I'm also looking for an original copy of the Jan. 14, 2003 Weekly World News magazine if any one knows where I can get one.

 

One ad Anne and I haven't been able to track down is the two-page spread ad called CHICAGO MILK RUN SUPER SPEEDWAY. This is one of a series of 5 neighborhood "speedway" ads with a made-up circuit over a aerial photo. If anyone has this ad, can you tell us where you found it? Thanks.

I've got a binder chock full of all things MINI. I have a few repeats of stuff, so I would be willing to trade. Newest addition is the convertible press kit from the NY auto show, uncommon one are two postcards in spanish from mexico.
