R56 What is this sensor/plug on R56 N18 Intake Hose?

What is this sensor/plug on R56 N18 Intake Hose?
Hello everyone. My turbo inlet hose is cracked really bad and a friend gave me a silicone hose to replace. But he told me I need to modify this sensor on the side of the hose. The silicone hose doesn’t have this hole. So I have to add it to the silicone hose.

My question, what is this sensor/plug for?
