Trim question

Just got me a new windshield cowl cover kit with additional mounting strip from ECS. My mounting strip on the windshield is broken and no longer glued to the windshield. My question is how do I line it up properly and what glue is recommended for the mounting strip?
I assume it would be a RTV silicone.

It will slide on the bottom of the windshield, there is a little lip of glass unless a glass company replaced the glass and used too much betalink/windshield sealant. From the factory it just clips on, i have seen windshield companies can get it to hold because of the overuse of sealant and they seal it on.

Thank you. Was able to clean it up and get it on there. The rest went on just fine after that. Looks so much better. Thanks again.

Okay, what the trick to getting the cowl mounting strip back on? I have a 2010 MCS, the windshield has never been replaced and I have now destroyed 2 of the mounting strips trying to get it on, and you can’t really get to the middle part with a rubber mallet because you can’t get any kind of an angle on it!! Getting VERY frustrated!! Any advice would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!!

Hello sorry just saw this, the bottom edge of the window you have to work it from the corner and tap it on. If the extra betalink (aka MINI window silicon seal they use), you have to trim it away so their is enough lip on the glass to get it one. Then seated the top cowl back tab goes into the U shaped grove that sticks up.

When i looked at mine after a window install, you will need a small razor cutter/box cutter (one that has a break away blade) or exacto knife . Watch so you only cut out enough to fit the gasket. Also since its new the betalink should be full under the windshield and have no air pockets or bubbles. I have seen people get windshield replaced and when they set the window in the betalink has a air pocket and they will get water leaks. You should not have that, but just a warning to the aftermarket windshield people.

I have seen window shops glue those strips on with betalink they have and force them on as they dont really know how to set the window. We get pictures sent in all the time asking on how to fix this.
