Looking for a thread on a sticky wicket -- no, a sticky throttle on R56 with the N14

I've searched the threads but I must be missing it. Can someone point me at a "common problems" thread regarding a sticky throttle. The car throttle is stuck way high on a 2009 Mini Cooper S R56 with the N14 engine. I just changed out the PCV breather hose, that is all that I did -- promise. HELP!

I liked that you used the sticky wicket Britslang bit,
so I'll respond.

I'm an R53 guy and don't know nuthin' regards to R56, but I did find a thread with a couple of ECU reset techniques that may possibly help?

Is your problem a sustained high idle?

Could possibly be a vacuum leak.

Surging idle?

Some R56 owners have reported cracked valve covers which cause that symptom.

I'm just throwing darts though --- hopefully someone more knowledgeable than myself will chime in.

Well thanks -- those are all possibly great darts! She was getting periods of a sustained high idle. Told me that she had this happen once before when she used bad gas. I got in her car to look at it and I noticed that her carpet was pushed up against the base of the accelerator. So, I think this was actually a case of the carpet keeping the accelerator pressed.

Glad to hear it was a simple fix!

And,
you get bonus points for good sleuthing.

If it was a case where she had taken it in to a mechanic to look at they would've at least charged a slight diagnosis charge, or worst case scenario a shady mechanic would've told her that the johnson rod needed adjustment and slapped up some crazy fee LOL

Good on you for solving the problem!
