Navigation & Audio Has anyone used this AUX-USB option for the stock radio unit?

Has anyone used this AUX-USB option for the stock radio unit?
Was looking in the glove box of my "06 R52 JCW the other day, I saw an "AUX" input jack for the sound system in there......I don't have that option on my '04 R53 MCS that we also have here.....I have the optional 6 disc CD player in the '04 car, but I think it died a month ago, it won't play any CD's and all I get on the radio panel is "NO DISC".......but there are 6 discs in there to play
Was looking at eBay the other day and stumbled across this little AUX-USB input assembly for the car.....anyone tried this? It was only $22 with free shipping.....I think if it works in my R53 that I might get another for the R52 because the convertible only has the little 3.5mm jack input, not the USB port for a flash drive full of music
I'll try and get this installed in my 04 R53 this week......I'm hoping that it just plugs in place of the trunk mounted 6 disc changer connections on the back of the radio head unit.......I'll post up when it's installed
dunno it will even be recognized in a GEN1 head unit . . . .
the plug might fit but I doubt there is software to support the new interface/device . . .
prove me wrong ....... folks would love to see this work .....
I wondered about that also, my '06 R52 has the AUX jack only in the glove box..... the eBay ad says it will, but maybe it won't....will try to get it installed this week and report back

Hmmmm, strange, my R52 has the AUX jack only in the glovebox, just not the USB port on it.... I heard that the head units are the same, oh well......if I can't adapt it to my R53, I'll just put it in place of the single AUX jack in the other car.....
I'll post my findings here in a few days.....the weather is supposed to be decent here over the next few days, I may have to work on getting the engine out of the convertible and worry about the usb input cable for later on this week
I'm certain now that the eBay listing is incorrect — these are replacement parts for 2nd gen OEM stereo.
The green connector plugs into a USB hub of 2nd gen stereo: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=65_1992 (item #1)
and in turn the USB hub connects to the headunit. None of this is compatible with the 1st gen headunit.
rkw.....yup, you are correct.....I pulled both stock head units out of both my first gen Mini's......no place to plug the green pigtail into.......well crap.....
I contacted the seller and told them the findings.....will see if they either reimburse me any or all of my purchase price or not.....I'm not gonna mail it back, it would cost more than I paid for the part....if you are sure it's for a Gen II Mini, maybe I'll post it up in the classifieds for what I paid.....will wait for an answer from the seller overseas before I do anything with this
I have that in the glove box of my '06 R52 MCS......it's just the 3.5mm jack.......not the USB port
I don't know if it works or not.....it is plugged into the radio head unit.....but I'm pretty sure that my HK Amp is dead under the seat.....I have no "noise" from the speakers in radio or CD mode......
I was hoping that the AUX-USB part would work on my '04 R53 MCS because the 6-disc trunk mounted changer died a while back......I really don't want to be forced to put in an aftermarket head unit in the car......but, I may have to
