JCW Pro exhaust flap not working

Hello all.

I just installed the JCW Pro exhaust onto my JCW through a separate workshop and not MINI.

However, the bluetooth remote is not working and the flap remains closed.

Does this exhaust system need to be synced with the car or it's just the remote/receiver module that is malfunctioning? Just trying to narrow down the culprit here.

Thanks

I read that you have to pair the devices together. I think there some instructions posted somewhere on this forum or f56 forum

I've read that this happens a lot with this exhaust. It seems to be the most common complaint over time even when the dealer installs it. I think some people have had it taken off and got their money back under warranty. Good luck.

Just guessing here.

I have a 3 week old MCS with the tuner kit installed when the car finally arrived and before I picked him up. In addition to the exhaust system hardware, the tuner kit includes ecu tuning that achieves an additional 30 horsepower. Perhaps the ecu tuning also includes setting the blue tooth remote control?

The tune is only for non- JCW models (ie Cooper S). The JCW cars do not use the tune software. They only get the bluetooth exhaust.

You need to get the Bluetooth paired. PDF linked. Make sure everything was hooked up right.

Good lord. Does this mean I'm screwed?

An independent workshop brought the exhaust in for me because the MINI dealer in my country refused to do so due to regulations.

And I don't think this workshop can access the After Sales Assistance Portal to release it?

Is it a Cooper S you have and it's the JCW tuning kit you have?

If the regulations relate to the noise of the exhaust, perhaps your dealer can still do the ecu tune only if you do have the tuning kit?

The pairing of the bluetooth looks like it can be done by your independent or yourself as the after sales portal is only needed for the ECU tune of the JCW tuning kit from what I understand.

It's a factory JCW.

Ok then maybe it's the remote or the receiver module that is faulty.

Ok now it's working. The workshop managed to redo the pairing and it's all good.

But holy **** are the pops and bangs crazy loud in sport mode when I lift off. Almost like gun shots. Am I the only nutter here that finds that it is too loud? Haha first world problems!

Have heard of more than one person who have let the system "open" then unplugged it...so they get the extra sound 100% of the time....

If you unplug it, it automatically goes to the "open" position.

Nope...
The folks on WhiteRoofradio radio , the podcast did exactly what I said...put it to loud, then unplugged it...worked like a charm according to them.

The flap has to be set in the open position before unplugging to get it to stay in the open position. If you just unplug it before activating the flap it will stay closed.

Dunno if anyone has mentioned this but I talked to a tech who told me that if you have any device near your bluetooth trigger for the flap that has bluetooth on it that the flap won't engage.

Had a friend with this problem. He had his iphone and his apple watch near the trigger button. When he moved his phone to a different spot in the car and switched wrists on his watch, the trigger worked.

It's happened to me as well with photoshoot cars from the Mini dealership near me.
