Dyno'd our JCW on E85 and made...(video and graphs included)
Hey all,
After baselining our completely stock JCW back in March we finally got it back on the same dyno to see where we're at. Conditions we almost identical with ambient temps being 3 degrees different. The baseline dyno was done completely stock and on 91 octane fuel.
A word of caution. We are running 100% E85 on this car but it has fuel system upgrades and the tuning has been adjusted accordingly. We do NOT recommend doing this unless you have made the necessary upgrades.
At this time, this is only a project car that we are testing. We wanted to see what it was capable of with a stock turbo and intake before we upgraded. We are not currently selling any products for it.
Mods, specs, and results are posted in the video and we've included the dyno sheets of stock vs. current.
Enjoy and special thanks to:
Manic Motorsports and Euro Techs of Tempe for their help and continued support.
This is the dyno maxing everything out and seeing what the turbo could do.
This is the dyno for our DD map. A little tamer down low and we don't shred tires as easily.
can you talk about the fuel system upgrades needed to be able to run 100% E85? I didn't see any specs in the vid on it.
My apologies, but we are not releasing any of that info at this time. As I said, this car is set up strictly for R&D purposes and nothing has been finalized yet.
Once we get the turbo upgraded and see what the additional fuel demands are, then we'll begin putting the finishing touches on it and see where that takes us.
Sorry for the delay, but for those that are interested or know what they are looking at, here is a log from one of the dyno runs. Unfortunately I don't have the log from the 265/320 as my phone froze up and wouldn't communicate with the BT module.
This log is actually from a 269/305 run on our map "B".
Could still be dialed in a bit, and I'm guessing the load table needs adjusted, hence the throttle closure that was probably even worse on our map "C".
We got a chance to get the Mini on the track yesterday to see how it would do. Now it just needs an LSD and a driver mod.
You can see in the video as we were exiting a lot of the corners we were laying down a strip of rubber trying to hook up so we'll drop it off with EuroTechs to get an LSD installed and then get some new tires.
Car's specs:
2013 Mini JCW (stock motor and turbo)
Fuel: E85
Fuel-It! fuel system upgrades
Fuel-It! bluetooth ethanol sensor
Manic custom E85 tune on map A (265whp/270wtq)
Downpipe
FMIC
Potenza RE-71R tires
Stop tech slotted rotors
Hawk brake pads
Overall we felt the JCW did really well, no hiccups at all. It was our first time at the track so we had to take the "New Member" class but mid day we got on the track first and took some video. Here's a couple of those laps.
Well I guess that explains things. By the way I'm planning on going Manic stage two this summer after my inspection and I was looking at maybe running E85 on top of that.
